Winston Churchill seems to show up on all lists I see over different famous people with disorders. I've also seen him on bipolar-lists and dyslexic-lists... Poor guy must have had a hard time.

Not everything is a sickness. These are almost (or all) personailty traits. I don't see why they call it a bad thing unless it effects your health.

I posted more than usual today I think.

I have ADHD and tourettes. If you were to ever meet me on the street, you would never notice. Why?

Because it's bullshit. Ever since I was diagnosed, I never showed any signs. I was held back in school, and put into Resource Rooms (free periods where you're forced to do work) just because of ADHD. It's nothing more than labeling people who think different ways than everyone else.

When I was in 7th grade, I was in an accelerated math class. I did all the math work in my head (AND getting the problems right), while they were forcing me to do it on paper. I was labeled as having ADHD, taken out of the accellerated class, and forced to do the work on paper, otherwise they would fail me. Fucking assholes.

I need to breathe. Saying the smartest people (NOT INCLUDING ACTORS) have/had ADHD makes me pissed.

Oh do I ever know how you feel v_v I used to be great at math, but now they won't accept my work if I don't write down every step. This really pisses me off, as it really does nothing but slow me down...

I think the whole thing is bullshit. In 5th grade, I misbehaved a few times in class due to boredom and the teacher got me into this shit. "Well according to the previous action your son has made, we think your son my have a learning didorder called ADHD. We will have to get him on ritilin to stimulate his mind for better focus and see how he does there..." almost like they are calling me stupid... I have had A and AB honour role all my life; great SAT scores and earned a $60000 scholorship this year. In your face, fucking therapists!

The_Raven:

Please indulge me as to how you can be so smart and yet fail to see the fact that people with ADHD tend to be quite intelligent, despite it being a learning disorder. You being bored in class just makes it more likely.

Those bastards. I'm in an accelerated math class too, for most of my schooling, and I have always done a lot of problems primarily in my head. I don't have ADHD and I get very high grades in math. Interesting how having something like that printed on your record changes everybody's outlook on you...

I'm not surprised, I have heard of some of the people having aspberger on other lists. Like Albert Einstein.

Most famous people do have something, it's so common. Wouldn't be surprised if Linux Torvald and Bill Gates also had something. (i'm quite sure that they have aspberger)

FYI, I have Aspberger... and i'm not the only one on this board.

Doing math in your head isn't even close to impressive v_v Unless you're doing some parts of advanced algebra, trig, or sometimes Calculus. That actually IS tough to do in your head.

I was in advanced math, and did do most of that stuff in my head. Does that mean that they're going to think that I have ADHD just because I do it really fast?

They shouldn't.

I got sent to the resource room a lot when I was little because I wasn't very friendly towards other kids and preferred to do things alone rather than in groups. I got thrown into the whole "ADD/ADHD" thing in fourth grade because I used to hum and whistle while doing tests and some of the kids complained.

I never realy liked to work in groups, and I still don't. Sometimes, even when I'm doing very good on the classwork, and I'm 75% done (while everyone else is at 50%), this happens:

Teacher: Hey, you're not in a group.

Me: I know.

Teacher: Why don't I just put you in one then?

Me: I'm fine. Look, I'm almost done.

Teacher: But ths is group work.

Me: I saw everyone else, they're only halfway done.

Teacher: But....group....GROUP WORK! GRAAAARRRGH! DO WORK IN GROUP NOW!

Me: I'm done.

That's when I just sit back and relax.

Yeah, but that could refer to discipline as well.

I'm fairly certain I don't have any of those "medical conditions" - I know I was tested in elementary school for something (ADD? Couldn't be...) but the test showed I was fine. *shrugs*

I don't like working in groups or anything like that unless I know the people well, but that's more a case of wanting to get the work done. I hate being in a chatty group where I end up doing most of the work.
