Blocktool is awesome When I first learned how to use it, I was so happy I made a whole level showing off all the blocks I inserted. My hack wouldn't be half as good if it weren't for it.

Poor, pathetic SMWExpert... Custom blocks do not make hacks good. Ingenuity does. To think you can make a hack better just with custom blocks is foolhardy at best.

I'm using blocktool. However, I'm not a "GONNA INSERT TO MAKE GOOD HACK" guy. I'm mostly using what SMW have got and uses a few to improve it a bit.

I DO think that a good hack needs custom blocks nowadays...or it would get too usual.

Custom Blocks yes, Blocktool no. Blocktool blocks grew, just like SMAS music, even more usual in hacks than the original stuff and therefore are boring. Do it yourself.

I'm not inserting them to make a better hack. I'm just inserting them for the fun of inserting new blocks that weren't in SMW. A hack can be good without any custom blocks at all!

And yes, I believe that originality makes the hack, not custom blocks. The custom blocks are simply to make MORE originality.

Why not using Blocktool ?
I never got far in my hack; but certain blocks just are good; as long as you don't base the entire game on custom blocks only; like for covering evil level design or poor graphics.

But some of them, like the one-way blocks or some of the various new ones, can be used in quite good places. Messing around with them can make a hack better; there are even more possibilities.
Custom blocks cannot save a boring hack at all; but used not too much they can challenge the player more and allow to make the player think what to do ("Hey, how can I break this unknown wooden block ? Fire doesn't work ... ahh. there's a Koopa. Let's throw the shell upwards ")

Yep. But not that much, just 1-way blocks and stuff like that.

Yeah, I do. I have also successfully inserted only a singe thing, and it was my only attempt. It's the block boo reserve block thingy. I'm planning on making "Blast barrel" type thingies in my hack, using the acellerate blocks. Maybe.

Ummm... yeah I use the blocktool program. It is the best way to add blocks. I like the sensitive blocks. They are the best... from what I have used.
