...and you had no restrictions and an ulimited budget and as many programers/artists etc as you needed what game would you remake? I'd remake banjo twoie because it was so much fun finding out what was around the next corner.

If I had an unlimited budget, I'd promise to pay the designers (Moore's number) each for every tenth of a point it got on average in EGM after 8.0 and pay them nothing at all if it's below that. As for what game it is, I don't care. With an unlimited budget, I can steal an infinite amount of money from whoever's paying for all this stuff, as it doesn't matter as a fraction of infinity is still infinity. And it's their own fault of they can't pay. Just think: with a thousand dollars, we'd be millionaires! |

Honestly? I always thought it would be nifty to add onto the engine of The Addams Family (SNES), a superfun 2-D platform adventure game, adding item-based puzzles and more interaction with the game's environment and allowing you to play as different Addamses, which you'd need to do to get past certain obstacles (sort of like the old NES game Legacy of the Wizard). As in the original, there would be a slew of secret rooms and other random hidden crap to find. Years ago, I actually wrote down a whole bunch of ideas for this, and more recently, I tried to hack the level data of the game. I found a couple of door pointers and never got anywhere after that. Blergh. It would also be cool to remake and expand The Goonies II (NES), another 2-D platform adventure that was pretty sophisticated for its time. |

Harvest Moon 64...such a quaint little village, yet so much could be done...pretty non linear game play in a somewhat linear world. That always really appealed to me that every little thing can affect your life in the slightest way, just like real life (for example, an extra swing of your axe can wear you out to the point where you wake up a bit late, missing part of a festival, killing your chance to woo the girl you wanted, etc)

Final Fantasy VII. it had to be said, and I've just said it. Give Nobuo an orchestra, use the sprites from Advents children to power it... mmmm..... nice.

The List: Kid Icarus (NES) --> GC. Action/platformer. An excellent third person item collection game on the GC. Arrow shooting, weapon powerups, a nice temporary hovering feature and you have a helluva platformer. Firepower 2000 (SNES) --> XBOX. Shoot em up. Third person (again), linear tank/helicopter blasting-fest on the big X. Multiple power-ups and huge enemy bosses would make for an excellent shooter, besides; it was open for a sequal. Sunset Riders (SNES/Arcade) --> PS2/XBOX/GC. Third-person shooter. The game aspect would be much wider. You start off in a large town in an RPG-esque setting. Talk to townspeople, go to the sherrif, etc. to receive bounties. Then, buy your weapon (you can only hold one main weapon at a time, but you can pick up any weapon that bounties drop) and side-arms and hunt down your man. Ikari Warriors (NES) --> XBOX/PS2. 1st-person shooter. Survive in the jungle as an onslaught of enemies rush towards you trying to end your life before you can tell others of the location of their base. Isolated and alone, however, the boys realize that they must shut down the operation themselves. Motercycle, helicopter and tank piloting would do a 1st person shooter well. More to come... |

3 words, Legend of Zelda. It was a nice game, and it was very openly created... (most of the dungeons didnt have to be done in a specific order) I would add a ton of more features(Epona, upgrades, more weapons), up the GFX to perfection... keep the basic outline of the whole world and YAY! Fun for a long time

Also, make the boss a tad more challenging. Just a tad. Owned Aquamentus in 3 hits. (got the white sword at the very beginning of the game along with the blue ring)

Resident Evil. Hey, I got my wish! But, besides that or RE2/3, I would probably want to remake Darkstalkers 3. It was and still is an old favorite of mine that needs to get a makeover. Oddly enough, I hear it is on the PSP. So, I get my wish AGAIN! (edited by Jarukoth on 07-02-04 10:16 PM) |

Kirby ATW and Clockworkz - Have you tried the Zelda Challenge ROM hack? I've never attempted it myself, but it's highly regarded and looks very interesting.

Or, failing that, you guys could try Zelda Classic and have some fun. I'd have to agree with Kid Icarus. It's a SHAME that Nintendo hasn't messed around with it (aside from Pit's trophy cameo in SSBM) because they could easily put together either a solid action-adventure for the GameCube or a SOTN-type game for the GBA. |

Rogue. IVAN, one of many games in the genre Rogue created, is one of my favorite games of all time. Remaking it, I'd have multiple large, IVAN-style fixed quests, in addition to variations on simpler, Rogue-style quests, many more items and monsters, actual graphics (and good ones at that), sound, a magic system, character classes, Zelda-esque puzzles, and other things that flow to the mind naturally having played something from that genre. |

That reminds me - I always thought Deadly Towers was an interesting concept and ahead of its time. I would like to see a less difficult, more player-friendly remake. Some ideas: - Provide indicators of where you are in the dungeons, even if it's just a simple radar like the overworld "map" in the original Legend of Zelda. - Make Prince Myer not die so fricking quickly. Sheesh. Or at least put your inventory items in your password so dying is less annoying. - Provide some indication when you get close to an entrance to a dungeon or hidden room. (In the game, these aren't visible onscreen at all.) This would both help you look for them and avoid them if you didn't want to go in them at the moment. - Make the parallel zones not suck. Some of them are OK, but in others, you'll get killed almost immediately unless you have a specific item to use (and in one case, there's only one of the item in the game) or know exactly what to do. One of them killed me within seconds even though I had the best available armor. You should have more of a chance to save your own ass. - I heard that it's possible to use a dungeon warp scroll to get yourself stuck by warping into a room that's inaccessible from the rest of the dungeon. I've never verified this (I haven't done any serious search for level data or played with this item at all), but if it's true, the game should be edited so that this situation is either impossible or not sucky. By "not sucky", I mean that those rooms would hold hidden stuff, so it would be a good thing to find them, and you could warp without gobbling up a one-use item, so it would be fun and useful to hunt for closed rooms, and you wouldn't be screwed if you wound up in one and had no more warp scrolls left. |

Infinity isn't a fixed amount therefore you can't take a fraction of it - so you would steal the huge amount of : *drumroll* NOTHING. Don't spend it all at once. How about a remake of final fight and sf2? Final fight vs street fighter. Levels would be like ff and bosses would be like in street fighter. I've yet to hear otherwise other than the rumors that plagued it years ago about being a game and then somewhat died when Advent Children was announced... ...by the way, when's that slated out everywhere, anyways? I'd Google for it...but I'm lazy. >>> And I'll take this too: Originally posted by EdOriginally posted by Utilityman Go here. (BitTorrent needed) 19:19 to beat the game with two players (except for the bug in one level for playing two players). I wouldn't mind to see and easier difficulty in the game myself or any Battletoads game for that matter (Arcade was hell), but I guess some of the games are meant to be hell because they are literally that, a challenge. Originally posted by c0nfu53d It IS a sequel, but yea wouldn't everyone want a game sequel to FF7...but Square'd probably screw it up. And Battletoads is beyond deadly, you do not know ph34r until you've passed the third level completely (not using warps). The bikes are deadly. (edited by Ranko on 07-03-04 01:17 PM) |
