Last week Thursday there was a tornado warning here in Brown County (which happens about every 5 years), and a tornado hit about 10 miles south of us. We did experience winds of over 60 MPH, though...

It wasn't really scary, however.

Rainy it have been, all the time... last night there was a thunderstorm.

Today it was sunny and warm thought, hopefully the following days will also be sunny and warm.

For some years ago there were this big storm here, nothing like thoose in florida. But it was really strong for thoose areas. Alot of trees fell and I swear that my house would tear apart (it never did thankfully)

Our winters here can get pretty bad, and come to think of it, our summers can too, if we get hit by a heat wave, since it's pretty humid here. Oh, and we got hit by the blackout last year, but I was stranded at a hotel in Minnesota or Wisconsin when that happened.

I've been less than 150m away from a lightning, which must have spread along the ground, because my mom who was right next to me, said that a piece of lightning came out of the wheel of a car and went into my foot, and then came out on the other side.

I actually saw the lightning come out on the other side, and I felt this stingy feeling where it left, and I heard this weak buzzing sound.

The lightning striked in the middle of a football field, where some kids were playing football. Some of them complained about headaches afterwards.

Oh, and the thunder was damn loud too. I automatically took the hands to my head. And this happened in Sweden, we usually rarely get thunderstorms where I live.

Heh, and the surprise didn't hit me until it was over, because it all happened so quickly.

Oh, and then there was that one winter, 2001 I think, were we got two meters of snow. That's the only time I've walked on top of our garage roof (no ladder, just walked straight up on top of the snow). (We had to, to get rid of the snow because there were no space for it to slide down by itself. )

Icestorm of '98 was pretty surreal.

Six years ago when I was in sixth grade, it rained so much in one day that when we were leaving to go home, we pretty much had to wade through water. I was afraid I was going to slip, fall, and drown but later I realized that if I had fallen, I'd end up with a wet bottom and that's it.

I don't know how long ago it was (5, maybe 6 years ago I think), but we had a completely random tornado touch down right across the street from us one morning. It was pretty small, and thankfully managed to miss us, but still...yeesh.

Nothing much in scary weather here in my part of California. No earthquakes here, no snow, but we do have rain and sunshine . I remember before we had this bad storm with hail and everything..it was the shizzle..well to watch.

A lot of lightning and thunder..my cat got scared..heh so did my mom and baby sister. The streets flooded a few times..It did last winter but it wasn't bad..it was only for a few hours from the night time hours to the morning..but then by noon all the water was down and my dad said I didn't have to go to school . Usually when the streets are flooded it doesn't last very long..just maybe a day..I don't remember if it ever lasted as long as 2 days

We don't have much cold weather either. I remember Freshman year around Dec and Jan it was SO COLD..well during the days it was in the 40's maybe 50's and at night 20's to 30's..that was a horrible time ..I hated the coldness..

We don't get nearly as bad storms as in the US, but the UK has particularly turbulent and upredictable weather.

I've been in a storm that flooded the road in a foot of water a few years back... Then there was the time a tropical storm visited us instead of heading south west to Florida. A lot of people say it was a hurricane, but it wasn't. If it was a hurricane, then it wouldn't have been trees, powerlines and roof tiles blown down, they would've blown away all together. Houses would've been destoryed.

There have been two tornadoes where I live, I didn't see either of them, because I was away at the time. Belive it or not, you're more likely to see a tornado in the UK than anywhere else in the world, although where they happen isn't as focused as in the US. They ocur all over at unpredictable times, and are considerably less powerful.

A few weeks ago we had a storm here that seemed to come out of nowhere and lasted for what seemed to be about ten minutes. It managed to tear up a few buildings and knock out our power for 10 hours. My internet hasn't been working right since then. About a month before that something knocked out the power to the entire city for a few hours.

It seems to horribly rain a lot here..and with the city being in a valley..the rain just kinda rolls off the mountains and settles here.

I remember/was told about four times we had really bad weather.

1. When I was in grade 5, we got a ton of snow over the winter, then a flash heatwave in the spring. Roads on the path to school were flooded out. They didn't close down busses, though.

2. For around three straight winters, grades 4 to 6, we had around -40 to -50 Celcius weather at least 10 days over each winter. Seeing as school closed at -40, we got a fair number of days off those years.

3. When I was a year old, Edmonton was hit by the twister that hit the city pretty hard. I don't remember any of it, but my grandma and mom say they thought for a while a tornado was going to hit the farm.

4. The week before and the week after I was born, the nearby river flodded. Two of the bridges flooded out, which means it took my dad an extra half hour to drive to the hospital. Two to five miles of farmland on either side of the river was under water.

I remember this one, I got power back after one day. I was lucky.

Other than that, lighting struck very close from my house (destroyed some cables, so I didn't have power for awhile), this one was scary because there was a small explosion.

Every summer we get strong wind and I've seen a bunch of "flying" objects. I've also heard of a tornado hiting near where I was when I was younger but I don't remember it that much.

The list will be bigger, I'll post it if I remember more.

I get bad weather very often (I live in Iowa). Yesterday there was a nasty line of storms with very heavy rains but not much lightning. But the visibility droped to less than a quarter of a mile. I watched the whole event out of the window (I love to watch storms). I don't get hail very often but the last time I've got hail was on May 17, 2004 (pea sized). The biggest I've seen was about quarter sized.

Colleen you were caught in the ice storm? So I was I. I must live quite close, not too sure how far LaSalle is from Ottawa but I'm sure it's pretty close if you were also in the ice storm!

I remember showing up to school the next day after it started, and there was some cops and firemen and a huge tree fell on top of the school!

Yes, it's close. I'd say around 500-600 km. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
