Our kitties are officially two years old. We want to get them something, like a floor-to-ceiling cat tree. I think Chester would be happy just having more toy mice, though. He'll sit downstairs and meow when he wants someone to play fetch with him. (Yes, you heard me right - he thinks he's a puppy. ) He also likes to sleep on the bathroom sink, and he loves to stick his head under the running faucet. Sometimes when I turn on the sink, he comes flying out of nowhere and jumps up on the kitchen counter.

Cookie is sitting in my lap washing her mittens. She doesn't fetch, but she goes nuts over her tassel on a string. She also likes to sleep under the covers in the wintertime, which is just adorable. You wake up and feel a warm lump next to you, and you look under the blanket and see marshmallow mittens all splayed out.

This wouldn't be a good cat thread without pictures, so here are a few recent ones.

Cookie in the cat bed

Chester about to get high

Cookie in the entertainment center (she actually wedged herself in there through a small rectangular opening in the back!)

Cats

I have anything between 6 and 10 cats right now... I've lost count... My mom just set on a mission to rescue every single kitten her wildlife rehabilitiation thingyorganization gets their hands on. We also have 4 skunks and 5 ducks. Yar. Hooray for animals.

I see you have the hairy furniture stuff too... heh.

Anyways... gifts for animal birthdays? That's kind of... weird.. See, now you've thrown me into a state of deep thought. Hrmm.

Say it with me:

"Awwwwwwwwww!"

I love animals. They look like fuzzy litlle kittylumps in thosepics. Myself, I have a black cat who likes to jump on my lap and walk to Shea Stadium on a weekly basis.

My grandmother has like 11 or 12 and they're all those hairless one slike Dr. Evil's cat from the Austin Powers movies. She just grows so attached to them, but there shouldn't be anymore.

Heh. Those are so cute

Anyway... Lead a trail of crumbs leading up to a basket and put some catnip in the basket.

Because cats in baskets are cute.

Once we even made a cake.

My mom have two dogs you see. Heh.

I like the last picture, cats really can get into tight places.

Thanks...I'm going to pass along your compliments to them.

Kiwi - We're dorky cat people, so we don't think it's that odd to buy them stuff. Plus, it's fun to pick out said stuff.

sharkz - Are you talking about the thingy on the bottom with the orange and gray plugs? That's a SoundBlaster Audigy 2.

We make cupcakes for the animals when they're having a birthday.

Even though we only know one exact date...

Soooooo kawaii.

I don't know the cats' exact birthday, but I know that it's around the very beginning of July. We adopted them on August 31, 2002, which was a Friday. Skiffles' mom told us that they'd be eight weeks old that weekend (or possibly Saturday - I forget exactly what she said). Thus, I figured that July 1 was a pretty good estimate for their birthday.

Cupcakes, eh? Sounds like a possible plan...

Don't worry...I know. I got the impression that Colleen was talking about cupcakes that were made to celebrate the animals' birthday but eaten by the humans.

Oh the dog eats them. But in that case it's just a plain vanilla cupcake. Cats... eh. They don't like most people food, although one of them likes porkchops every now and then. Chips/chip dip too.

...You know, Iggy, chocolate's bad for dogs too.

Once I made a tuna sandwich, and I had to hide in the bathroom to eat it because Chester kept trying to stick his face in it. (I wouldn't have let him have it anyway - tuna is actually bad for cats. They sometimes come around and sniff food that we're eating, but they usually don't try to actually lick it or anything.

Yeah, but that's just regular tuna. If it's tuna cat food it's pretty much fine. I heard somewhere that if you give cats tuna and they haven't been pretty much raised on it they get diarrhea, though...

Yeah, the tuna thing's surprising... but our cats don't seem to like tuna anything.

Although it IS funny to see the little one reaching for a tiny potato chip and slowly suck/chew on it.

It depends on the size of the dog and how much chochlate they get. Big dogs can take little chochlate.

The same ingrident who makes humans feel good from chochlate have too big effects on cat/dogs.

I should check up what it was called again that... dangerous thing.

Yes, they can TAKE it, but it's still not good for them. And it's silly to feed them it when you don't really know how much is too much.
