If I'm typing something of mine, and I really get going, I can type about 95 WPM, but people complain about how much I bang on the keyboard. Generally, I type from 75-95. It really depends on how awake I am...

What do you mean, banging on the keyboard? How would that work, anyway? If you just banged on it it'd be rather inaccurate...

I type really loudly, that's what I mean. If you were to ask anyone I knew...

I'm actually about 95% accurate.

I can type faster than my test result when I'm typing from my mind, not from a sheet or whatever too, Jesper.

Thing is, that's not the purpose of those tests. Half the purpose of the tests is to see how typists type from copy, as that was what typists pretty much had (and have) to do in businesses/workplaces.

If you want to test yourself outside of the standardised test parameters (ie, no typing from copy) open Word, type madly for five minutes (have somebody time you, and make sure you have some kind of bullshit rant in your head at the time, because five minutes of "the quick brown fox..." doesn't count!) and then when the time is up, count how many words you got, and divide it by five.

And I type loudly too, but it doesn't help that my keyboard is loud too.

I type somewhat quickly, but it's nothing exceptional. Usually I go about 60 words per minute. There is a Chinese guy in my class whose brother has a provincial record at 140w/min!

I used to be able to type quickly until I encountered the evil Japanese keyboards which have sapped my ability to touch-type. (Apostrophe is shift-7? Quote is shift-2? Plus is above the semicolon? Colon has its own button?) Now I can't go back to a regular keyboard.

Fortunately I can impress many Japanese people by being able to type 100 characters a minute -- nothing to brag about if you've grown up with a Roman-alphabet keyboard, but very few Japanese people can manage this.

Guh? I was originally gonna congratulate you on being able to type 100 words per minute, then I saw that said characters and was like "... oh." That's not too bad, though, I've seen worse... And then there's the fact it's probably not on a standard keyboard...

I was able to do the Huck Finn and Strategic solutions tests at a net speed of 82 WPM. Back in junior high school, my fastest typing speed was about 60 WPM. That can be attributed to "Mario Teaches Typing."

I'm dyslexic, so I find it really difficult to copy text than type from whats in my head. Like jesper said, I can type twice as fast and with greater accuracy from my mind than copying text.

114 with 2 errors... only one of which was a typo. For the other one, I put a comma after the last item in a list out of habit (that's what I always do), and it didn't like that. A lot faster than I thought I could type!

Bleh, only 82 wpm with 1 error (semicolon..)

Could have done it faster had I not worried about spelling Eutrophication right. I spelt that world super slow on that one (Finland Fishing one,) yet when I typed it here I didn't even have to think about it to get it right.

It was longer ago when I took the last test on that:

Test name: Fishing in Finland
Gross Speed: 68 WPM
Errors: 3 words
Net Speed: 65 WPM
Accuracy: 95 %

Nothing too well; I only took the lowest one-minute test. Also it is another thing to type a text in English or German ... in the last one I'm slightly faster than here. I'll search a similar test for German texts and I'll see if I'm better than here

Oh god....I got 31. And people think I type very fast....Huck Finn 1 minute. With 3 errors. I hate these type of tests. If I could find a way to learn to type faster I would love it....

Kyouji, yeah, as I mentioned, the keyboard is bizarre; the alphabet and numbers are in the right spots, but everything else is moved around. Considering that the average kana is just under 2 keystrokes (say 1.5), and the average kanji is maybe 4, and that you have to hit the space bar to convert kana to kanji and that you might do that 10 times per 100 characters, and that typical text is maybe 70% kana and 30% kanji -- you'd have 235 keystrokes, or, at 6 keystrokes per word, 39 WPM. I type English faster than that though, even with the dodgy keyboard - maybe 50 WPM.

In Information Processing, I could type around 50WPM. I've slowed down now, though, seeing as I find it eaiser to type not using the lessons they taught me.

Why do I have a hard time believing that a 13-year-old can score almost 90 words a minute on a keyboard type test?

I mean shit...I think most humans that age would be lucky to type 30...let alone 90.
