Eh, I'm on a laptop right now so I won't take that test. But three months ago I took an Australian Accredited test as part of work, and I got 87 Words A Minute with 99% accuracy. I have a certificate and all, which has to go with my application to the Education Department when I apply for jobs -- they refuse to acknowledge my computer skills without the accredited certificate with my typing speed.

I can never do those kinds of typing tests. Im more of a sound to words type guy, so it depends on the situation that depends on how fast I type.

Normally, I can do 60 WPM with fairly good accuracy...

Tried the one minute with Huck Finn a few times...couldn't score more than a 75 AWPM consistently. I think my best WPM was 79.

Test name: Tigers in the wild
Gross Speed: 65 WPM
Errors: 13 words
Net speed: 61 WPM

Accuracy: 93%

I would've done better, but it doesn't let you go back and correct misspelled words like it should so I wasted time repeatedly pressing Backspace.

I never do good on those tests because you have to look at the screen and follow a script. When I'm typing something such as this I'm typing directly from my mind, atleast twice as fast as from a script. I know beforehand (without the "effort" to look) what I'm going to type, so that step's eliminated.

I'm about the same way, I think most people are the same since you don't have to think about getting someone else's words exactly right.

So in all honesty, my range should be something like 70-90 or something.

I got 85 WPM... So maybe add 5 to that...

Why yes, I am quite a good typist. Really helps with school papers and the like.

Kyouji - Why should it if it's measuring accuracy as well?

Iuno. Sure, I make mistakes, but I always go back and correct them. It's strange because I'm dyslexic and make many less mistakes than most people online, most of whom aren't :p

Depends on the situation sometimes...I mean my mother types a stable 90 and she sometimes gets on a comp (she's a secretary for a law firm, btw) and in the middle of a brief when she's listening to dictation she'll just totally bomb a certain point several times. Just depends if you're up or not.

I can't take those kinds of tests very well, not because I'm not a fast typer, but because I don't type with out looking at the keyboard a bit, so it slows me down too much when I have to look up at the screen to make sure I'm typing the right thing, and not having a lot of typos (I can type really fast when I'm just typing something from my head, but when copying from something,... I'm a little slower, and I tend to make more mistakes)

What sucks is that they don't let you copy and paste the whole thing in, that'd be easier.

What?

Stop looking at me like that ;-;

I'm not gonna take it yet due to time but I know I can hit around 90 WPM back when I had computer tech class. It was fun because I was the fastest and could type the alphabet with my eyes closed and everything in 3 seconds.

I took the Huck test and got

Gross Speed: 29 WPM
Errors: 1 Word
Net Speed: 28 WPM
Accuracy: 96%

I'm like Jesper in that I type better when typing directly from my mind. The error from the test was I forgot a semicolon.
