I'm scared of the Roller Coaster

But probably my worst fear, is my old house. It was ultimately scary there at night. There were always noises in the attic, like someone moving around or something.

Wow, we have a lot of agoraphobics (I think this is the word, correct me, please). I used to be very nervous, about my appearance, about the future, about whatever random thing might go wrong. One day I awoke with an unbelievable sensation of calm. I didn't even have to think about anything to come to a realization that has stuck with me ever since...

it's all good

What do I care what people think, or what horrors the future holds? Not that these things don't matter to me, but I just take them objectively now. Come what may, I'll still be me, until I die. If you worry about the future how can you live in the present?

I can't really explain the sensation I felt, but it's along those lines and it really is all good. Love and life, that's all I need.

And you'd be amazed at the changes that such an attitude has wrought.. whew!!

So don't sweat it. If people talk shit, tell them to go fuck themselves, or even better, just smile and nod. If fear looms its ugly head, just find something to laugh at or go masturbate or something. Screw all the insecure losers who need to take their problems out on you, they are far worse off than you'll ever be, and the fact that you know that can be enough to propel you above the shit-storm.
Peace.

Agoraphobia is the fear of public/open places, named for the Agora of classical-age Athens. So...yeah. That just makes me damn nervous, speaking in front of people. I've done it before, and I'll end up spending m' life doing that...might as well get used to it...INCO 103 (Public Speaking) next term...yay....

My biggest fear is dying, I'm not gonna know what happens to me in the afterlife once my life is over, don't know if I will be reborn, not exist, or something unexplainable. :~

I'm afraid of deep water and wasps...

I've managed to face my fear of deep water, but it still makes me uncomfortable because I like to have a solid surface below my feet.

Speaking of solid surfaces, I've recently developed a fear of lifts. Being supported at a great height by something that is as simple as a weight and rope is really daunting. It started when my friend at university started doing DDR in a lift, and made it shake

I've never lost my fear of wasps, though...

I've always been afraid of someone sitting in the back sit of my car while I'm driving alone. I'm not afraid they're going to attack me or anything... it's just creepy for some reason. I'm not really afraid of anything else.

Deep water, like Kasumi.

I can deal with it, and make myself like it now... We used to go swimming out in the bay behind my house... the water was shallow, and I couldnt see my feet... That scares me... But that has more to do with my fear of sharks and things that can eat me.

I tend to fear deep pools. o.O Another one of my biggest fears would have to be the fear of a loved one dying... Can't forget needles. Ick. I hate sharp pointy objects. >.<

I have ligyrophobia, a fear of loud noises. There's a loudness and sharpness threshold beyond which a sound will affect me. Sustained loud noise, like a concert, doesn't freak me out because it doesn't startle me (it does get to me after a while, but that's a different issue). It's the sudden ones, like popping balloons or fireworks, that set me off. You know how you jump when you're startled? Imagine your stomach doing that as if someone jerked it upward quickly. Noises used to do that for a while, but lately, they cause this unpleasant crawly sparkly sensation across my back.

The special effects get even more interesting if I happen to be surprised by a particularly horrific noise. When I was a kid, my family went to Colonial Williamsburg, and we were watching some show that involved a cannon. Said cannon fired without warning. I convulsed, my knees turned to water, and I almost fell over. And then there was the time when I saw Les Miserables on a school trip, and some Einstein in charge of sound thought it would be really fucking cute to simulate gunfire with blanks so loud that they made fireworks sound like those little white party snaps. I can tolerate fireworks with my hands jammed in my ears to dull the sound. These blasts set off my reactions even though they were muffled, and I was panicking until the scene ended.

Thankfully, I haven't been in an icky situation like that in years, but I still get edgy around balloons, especially when I'm checking out at the grocery store and I can hear them being blown up. Sometimes I've been around when they popped, and they're LOUD and they echo, as if adding insult to injury.

Yoshi ARR - I hated that Game Over screen in Zelda 2, too! I always used to do the quick reset (Up + A or whatever it was) because I didn't want to run out of lives and face squicky Ganon.

On the subject of deep water - That used to bother me a lot, and I still don't like to walk around where I can't see my feet because I'm bugged by the ideas of dropoffs. I also wouldn't want to do any swimming in deep, murky water. I can swim just fine, but it's that unknowing aspect that bothers me. I think I just have to be sure that I'll be able to get back to shallow water when I need to. Deep clear swimming pools (and oceans - this is one reason I enjoyed our family's 1993 trip to Aruba so much - you can see the bottom even when it's 30 feet deep) are A-OK.

To clarify this fear. It's one of those amazing fears that the sight of a little grey alien. Causes my throat to choke up and my heart to stop. It's one of the few things that actually frighten me. I don't know why...But I have some paranoid friends that, after hearing some of the stories from my childhood, swear that my fear is caused by actual abductions that happened when I was just a kid.

I think it's the fact that my parents brought the movie Communion home one night from the video store and watched it while I was in the room.

Hell, I miss the huge-ass thunderstorms I saw when I lived on the Great Plains. There's something exhilerating (sp?) about them.

Wasps...no big. Don't care. Of course I'll get a bit more nervous if one lands on me...but that's 'cuz it almost never happens.

I'm not really scared by loud bangs & such...more alarmed. That "fight or flight responce," I tend to stand & fight. Not sure why...just do.

Im scared of heights.. They freak me out. Especially if its GLASS.. i feel like it will break or dissappear or something. I like facing my fears though I purposely stand near the glass railings in shopping centers...then run away. lol. I love rock climbing which is weird though..

My other fear is being completely alone. wether this be by being locked up, or not having vision or hearing, or just everyone ignoring me and me being all alone like that, not knowing what theyre doing or stuff.. thats scary,.

Bees. When I was 8, I climbed a tree pretty high. At 3 stories up I have the misfourtune to bump into some kind of bees nest, and they were pretty large. I try to climb down as fast as I can, I was panicking. It's gets to a point where I am falling, actually falling, and I don't even realize it. All I'm concentrating on is moving my limbs. The braches broke a lot of my fall, but not enough for me to avoid twisting my ankle. Still, all things considered, I'm lucky it wasn't any worse. Ever since then I've been afraid of bees.

Thunderstorms don't usually scare me, except for the one time there was one when we were camping in an RV. Good thing it wasn't a tent...
