YoshiDude: guys i'm going to work at taco bell
witeasprinwow: lesbian joke potention ahoy
witeasprinwow: go eat some tacos

I'm glad we got that out of the way.
Anyway, there's a bunch of job openings for the Taco Bell here. I don't know if they'll be open by the time I learn to freaking park without going on the curb. What I'm curious about is, what's it like working in a fast food restaraunt? Not necessarily just Taco Bell, but anywhere. I know some of you guys must have gone through that experience.

I kinda had it easy because my fast food experience was Boston Market, but it sucks. Not much else you can do at your age, but it is what it is.

It sucked. I worked at McD's for a couple of years, and the longer I worked there, the more I hated it (and as a result, the less hours per week I worked).

I would assume working in front of hungry and sometimes grumpy people would not have it's perks...but then again I can't ever see myself working POS at Kohl's again and being the only male around...[shudders]...man the other co-workers could be pricks...

But anyways, I'd hate to see it with you and Taco Bell considering I know how much you like...idolize the food. But I dunno...maybe it'll be better than we're suggesting.

It depends a lot on location as well.

I go to two McD's. One is a 5-minute walk from my house, the other is downtown. The one near my house has its peak periods at lunch and supper, but if you want to go there at 7:30 PM for a cone, it's likely to be pretty quiet.

On the other hand, there's ALWAYS someone in line at the downtown location, so I pity those poor workers who have to work non-stop.

the one thing I've noticed about working (or heard people who work) in retail is you meet the full spectrum of customers...from polite customers to rude customers, the customers who can hear you and who seem deaf, and likes one like that...

oh yeah, just because you workplace may be in an affluent place doesn't make it immune to stupidity...

but anyways, this should be a good experience for you and a way to make some dough...how much are you going to be paid per hour?

Congrats and good luck.

I worked at Burger King while in high school (from ages 16-18) and it was fun, but it has it's moments when you just want to kill someone. Hopefully you get to work with heaps of funny and insane people, that usually makes the job so much better. There will be times, with any job, that you'll be your usual bitchy customers, but just smile and talk shit about them after they leave.

I'd like to get a job at any fast food joint, but all of them seem to not be hiring.
Hopefully I can get in somewhere.

One of the great tragedies in this world of ours is the fact that Japan is utterly devoid of Taco Bells.

I can't wait to visit my relatives in the US and have it again.

And Ranko (cool name; I just met a Ranko last week):

but then again I can't ever see myself working POS at Kohl's again

Whaddaya know; many of my past jobs could be described as "POS" as well!

Oh, and from what I hear, once you work at Taco Bell, you don't want to eat there afterwards. Of course, I heard that about McD's, and I still eat there, so meh.

It's true about most restraunts, if you have disciminating taste...Which I don't.

I've seen my friends at Taco Bell, and well...I don't eat there after I heard about how they're forced to cook the food.

Heian, I know a Ranco, he works with me. He is an angry ex-Yugoslavian dude.

I used to eat at BK, cause it was either free or 50% off, but I haven't eaten there since I worked there.

Uno, thankies!

Dos, POS as in what you're thinking and POS as in Point Of Sale.

Id say go for it. I work at my aunt's breakfast restuarant and im sick of working there. im underpaid, the place is way too busy for the size of the place. (Having groups of 6 people come in is a crazy, when the max seating is around 32). Other than that, and the point that its driven me to start smoking (which didnt last) its pretty fun. Your experience shoudl be better than mine, considering you will be working with alot of people.

Yay for Jiffy LUBE! no more cooking for me!

Ranko (or plain old Ran) is a great name. It means "orchid child"; if you have Japanese encoding, look at this:

Yea, I came across that in reading myself, and yea it's 'orchid'...I just didn't know about the 'child' part.

I'm impressed you've got so much Japanese down, Heian...less of course that's true anyways.

*tries to get subject back from the hole thatb it fell down*

Sometimes at work, I'll have a nametag that says "Anya" on it. Then there are times when we'll wear each others' tags, which in some cases, a guy has a girl name.
