| You know all that crap that comes on when the station can't afford to air any re-runs of their programs or something. They have informercials for everything. I see some mostly for weight loss or machines to help your physical needs like Bow Flex I think it's called or Proactiv. Do they actually work or are those people just actors? They go from some little fat man to this buffed up steroid looking d00d for a short amount of time which is impossible. I see a bunch for cooking too. I was gonna get Proactiv since I heard success stories on that..not on television. My doctor gave me perscripstion shit but it makes it worse and doesn't help at all. Have you had any success stories off of infomercials? Or did you find the stuff on store shelves for even cheaper since it most likely failed? | |||

When I live on my own, I know I will be the first to order everything.  I hate watching those shows.A pot that can cook fish and brownies I MUST have it. How have I survived all these years without one of those gadgets?  That's how I view everything.. and it must be how others do too, otherwise they wouldn't be successful. And I did not make that product up. |

| Stuff sold on informercials, believe it or not, tends to vary in quality, much like anything else. Every now and again Reader's Digest will do a comparison of various items sold on infomercials. The ratings generally run the gamut from 1 to 4 stars, depending on the product. For what it's worth, my mom frequently orders items from QVC--you know, the 24-hour informercial--and is rarely disappointed. |

Actually, Proactiv does work. I used it a few years ago and it did wonders. I know there's silly infomercials for it but you can look past those.  Ashley: You can buy me something nice like an Ultimate Chopper. |

| My friend and I were playing cards late at night last night with the TV on in the background, and my friend remarked that the people on the infomercial were so enthusiastic, it kinda sounded like they were narrating sex, so I started to pay attention to what they were saying. Here are some of the quotes: "One and a half times the suction of a full-size upright!" "The hair snare works great on carpet!" "That's a great 11-inch hose attachment, there." "So powerful! And it gets so deep into the carpet! And look- it's still going!" |

| The only thing I'd ever seen on an infomercial that I'd want is one of those ultimate Chopper things, or another blender thing called the Magic Bullet. Og course, all I'd ever use it for is smoothies, and any old blender can do that well enough. |

| Cleaning and cooking products are usually pretty good, I think infomercials are mainly for small companies that can't afford to do anything but mail order at first, or companies that want to directly sell to the consumer to make more profit, but only make one product and therefore can't open a store, if it's just one product... Proactiv/medications/hair removers/etc probably work, I mean, they would be automatically put out of business by the FDA and/or the Better Business Bureau if they didn't at least have some kind of placebo effect ;p You have to keep in mind that a majority of the dangerous medications that have adverse effects on your brain and heart, have complicated pregnancies/killed babies and have been removed from the market were originally from infomercials, because they're new chemicals that were approved for distribution but weren't tested on a wide range of people... So hum... if you see some kind of new revolutionary pill that claims to make you lose 20 pounds in 2 days, I'd advise you not to try it -- it might work, but meh, the side effects are unknown! Sure they can tell you "might cause diarrhea, etc" because they're immediate effects, but they can't tell you "increases your chances of getting alzheimer's disease by 1000%" -- because they don't know! Most of what you'll see on infomercials is pretty legit, but they might not be telling you everything, remember, they're trying to sell, not trying to help you live a better life! |

| Every once in awhile they sale it at As-Seen-On-TV stores. I saw this hair removal type thing at Target though. I'm stuck with Infomercials forevermore. That's all that's on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Well after all the cartoons and stuff  . I've watched all of them most likely  . I want to get the ultimate chopper. I also saw one with a blender that could blend anything. That'd be nice since I love smoothies. Bleh, I was gonna get Proactiv but the credit card didn't go through or something so they sent us this letter that took like a week to get to the house and by then my dad said we didn't have a lot of money. We blew a lot of it, well my dad did on a couple of worthless things here and there so now we can't get it. My friend told me about it but I saw the infomercial thingy before but I never thought about getting it. I hear a lot that it does work wonders. |

| One particular infomercial that always caught my attention a few years back was one for a portable outdoor grill that had enough attachments so you could cook anything on it. Burgers, breakfast, lobsters, cakes, you name it. I mostly remember it coming on at lunchtime during the summer, making me hungry, then making me dash into the kitchen for a sandwich. |

| that reminds me...that TV infomercial advertising the knives give you 25 knives for like $60 or something like that. However, if you were not to use that 800 number provided, it would cost you over $340 bucks or something for the same number of knives... so are infomercials purposely jack up the price to make you save or is ron out of his mind? |

| Heh. There's been a pyramid scheme of sorts being advertised at around 1 or 3 AM, I don't know which, in my area On channel 2... Basically, you make a website and get a thousand dollars or up to 200 dollars a week for the rest of your life every time you refer 20 people to that website, if they buy it's product (named THE GREATEST VITAMIN IN THE WORLD!!!, oddly) they can make their own site and do the same thing... how that's legal, I'll never know, but apparently it works if it's still up. |
