System Properties isn't any help. Doesn't give me the speed at all, just the memory size and stuff... Oh well..

It's a few years old now. Definitely getting on. Heck, it doesn't run Age of Mythology fast enough for it to be worth playing, so... It's definitely a tad slow, but it's really not that bad. It was virtually top of the range when it was new. I know that means nothing now, but, still. O.o'' Yeah, Windows 98, Pentium III.

EDIT: Erk, I said 'Pentium', does that mean I have to go 'bing bong bing bong'?

Well, if the memory is 128 MB RAM, then it really can explain why it was slow for you...

It's funny, becuse the 400 Mhz computer i'm running it on is Pentium 2. You maybe have something that is slowing everything down.

I used to have a 200 Mhz with a Pentium 1 processor. That was pretty slow, and it completely crashed twice. We lost all our files. It was really... bad.

Oh yeah, the memory sucks, I know that much. But I barely ever have anything running. Hell, my biggest memory guzzler is Winamp. I don't have anything that's slowing everything down. I can't. There's barely anything running at one time on this thing. If I start running lots of programs I won't be able to look at all my image files.

The only program that's running regularly is Winamp and maybe Explorer.

Hmm. Firefox more memory than IE, plus the memory managment in Windows 98 sucks. (I think Firefox runs faster in Windows2000/XP than Windows 98)

Besides Firefox isn't even finished, I remember that the older version of Firefox was slower. Maybe Firefox get's faster on old computer when finished.

Age of mythology dosen't have high System Requirements. Yes I have that game but I neveer play it...

I use Windows XP, but I've never used Firefox. I can live with IE, although sometimes the start-up page gets redirected and taken over by another website... does that ever happen to Firefox?

Simple no.

Hijacking Homepages dosen't work in Firefox, which is a very good thing. Spywares can't get installed into Firefox.

Heck I have seen cases with IE that it have downloaded a virus without my knowledge, but my anti-virus program always stop it before it does anything. Thought that happened for long time ago. (and yes I always keep stuff up to date)

And MSIE takes forever to load and stalls the computer for awhile on this computer... Pentium 4 2GhZ, with Windows XP Home Edition and Comcast DSL... Meanwhile, Firebird (I've heard that Firefox isnt as good as the older version... ) works fine.

But before anyone says that the game was a waste of money, other family members plays it. My mom plays it alot.

We even have the expansion pack, it's a quite fun game. But I prefer the C&C games...

Did you try to set everything on the lowest? And it still wasn't fast enough?

Bah, it was so long time ago I played Age of Mythology that I play some now... hehe XP

Nah, I probably didn't set everything to it's lowest setting... I'd rather have the full gaming experience... Heck, even if it's slow. To some degree. Hell, that's why I play Perfect Dark in Hi-Res.

I've just read this thread, and all I can say is HOORAY FOR BROWSER ELITISTS.

Seriously. While you're squabbling over what program renders a 400k alpha-layer PNG file first and with the most quality, I'll just be USING THE DAMN BROWSERS FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH.

That's right, I use IE for heavily-activex'd pages, and Opera for the rest. Bite me, ya commie linux scum!

Now, contrary to some other posts in this topic, THIS is the smartest thing anyone has said in the whole topic. XP

In a similar respect, I'm sticking with IE because it's never let me down, and even if Firefox were better (although with my computer it doesn't seem to be, oh well), the actual difference is so minor that it's not worth worrying about.

Yeah, I prefer direct IP connections, so I probably won't use ZBattle unless it's absolutely necessary.

Imoto. This should be interesting... *makes note to PRACTICE tonight*

I for one is using the damn thing close to five hours a day, all week, both as a normal reader and a professional web designer (as in getting paid). It had better be good. All the technical details here are small things, true, but it adds up. I couldn't care less about Legion having a bad browsing experience (with Firefox or IE or otherwise), but when this negatively affects a large portion of the board indirectly through inaccuracies and sometimes flat-out lies, I -have- to debunk it. It's my duty as a staff member, web developer and all-around brain owner.
