Tie-dus - The Voice acting shows is that, that is the correct way to pronounce it.

Well, properly it is "Tee-dus," and since you can change his name in FFX, Square dodged having ever saying his name. It wouldn't be until Kingdom Hearts that tiny Wakka says his name. I just say "Tie-dus" though, just because.

Another one of these threads.

I've always said Ti-dus, even though I know it's not said like that.

When I watched the trailer for FFX, it is mentioned that his name is pronouced Tee-dus.

The proper way by the root name of Tii-doos. Think of saying Titus in Latin, just change the t sound to a d.

Ever since a guy at Gamestop called him that, I have been calling him Tidus.

Then he went on a discussion of wether or not he could beat Majin Buu in a fight. Good times, good times...

Why is the guy's name spelled "Tidus" anyway? I ask because I'm a pedantic schlep who follows the original katakana and is studying Okinawan, and thus I say "tiida" always.

I say Tie-dus, you know, like it's spelled.

Squaresoft needs to make up their damn minds. They've said both versions.

In the official (think it was official) trailer, they say like "Join Teeeeeedus and Yuna on their journey............."

But I say Tidus. TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIdus. ...it kinda sounds like Tie though...so maybe I say it like Tie-dus.

I was confused on this subject as well, until Wakka pronounced it "Tee-Dus" in Kingdom Hearts. Since both games were made by Squaresoft, I assumed that was the correct pronunciation.

That's the thing, in some Square things they say one pronunciation, and in others, they say the exact opposite.

Tidus as in the tide. I'm used to pronouncing something like that with a 'long i' sound...not a 'long e'.

I say Ti-dus like tide or tie. The teeee sound just doesn't sound right to me. I've always said it that way no mater how Square says it. I think they confuse themselves
