it went bad once FFVIII come out.. it just got worse  .FFIV was fantasic FFVI was brilliant FFVII was life changing FFVIII was crap and it went down and down and down (apart from FFIX having a little good time). |

| It's definitely not what it used to be anymore, but I don't think it's dying. There are enough people out there to buy the games to keep the series going, so I don't think it'll die out anytime soon. If one of the games sucks, I think the FF fans will still buy the next one that comes out, because it's supposed to be a completely different game and it may not suck like the last. The recent games (recent being FFVII and above) aren't that great in my opinion. I'm hoping FFXII will be a lot better than most of the recent ones. If it sucks, I'll just look forward to FFXIII and so on. |

| Well ... mostly the later parts featured very neat graphics and really good soundtracks mostly (well ... didn't like the FFV OST too much, although not bad; like the nice Gilgamesh theme ), but FF is not the non-plus ultra in RPGs. It often lacks a surprising story, but on the other hand even a boring story was set up in a very exciting way; mini-games, FMVs and other stuff keeps you playing these although you don't expect anything what could surprise you  An exception is the story in FF VIII; hell, it's the most annoying and stupid story ever (imo, besides FFMQ), so I didn't finish the game until today  Other games feature far more interesting innovations like in battle systems (Grandia I + II), neat storys (Disgaea, Xenogears) or a fully new magic system (Rudra no Hihou, create your own spells) and such, while Final Fantasy offers the fun and effects. From the later parts I only liked FF VII and FF IX, but I didn't rate them even as far as good as FF VI, while at least I enjoyed a lot of hours in part nine, yes; the nice GFX and addictive battle theme music made me forget the huge lack of new ideas in that part; but as long as their were used wise, I don'T have anything if a manufacturer steals from his older games  |

You know you'll play the games anyways...so why bother putting a thread out like this?  If you don't play them now...you probably will later.See I notice a lot of RPGs can get some better recognition after vintage and staying out in the market for a few years...that's why I'm probably double-thinking about wanting to play 9 again. As for 11, doubt it, doubt I want to get into the MMO aspect of it. But I can't see this series dying anytime soon...for all I know it'll be MMXCDCMXMDXMVMCDMVXMCDMIIIIIIIIII before it dies. |

| There are three things you can count on in life; Death, Taxes, and Megaman Games. I'll say FF is dead when I see more of them than there are of Capcom's little contribution to the gaming world. Which is ironic, cause Hiryuu presents a good point in that I will more than likely continue playing FF games, just like I do with Megaman, no matter how crappy either series gets. |

| People have finer tastes that others. I find all the FFs entertaining enough to play although there are some parts of each FF game I have a gripe about (FF8 magic comes to mind) Anyways, there isn't any FF game I believe has sucked but there are FF games whose replay values are lower than the others |

| I say the series is as good as it ever was, and I honestly don't see why anyone else would think so otherwise. You can say how bad certain games were compared to VI or VII, but that doesn't make them bad games at all. Plus, how can you even top those? Also, don't forget that the fanboys/girls will keep the series afloat. They will... |

| I think its actually declining a bit... The old FF RPG feel is still there... but theres a lack of storyline sometimes... and WHAT WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY REMOVED THE OVERWORLD... X and X-2 could have been a lot better with an overworld, and not an interconnected world of screens and stuff. Not that Im picky in what I like... but I know when something isnt doing as well as it should. |
