I just returned from China, to which I traveled because my brother was chosen to go to a WuShu (martial arts) camp in Beijing. I just thought I'd share some interesting experiences. First off, it was pretty boring because most of the mornings, my brother would train and we would sit in the gymnasium doing nothing while there is no air conditioning. That was the worst part, but we did sightsee. In Beijing we went to about 4 temples, and maybe 2 of them were interesting. Since I don't have a digital camera, we didn't take digital pictures, rather old-school film, so I can't really post any pictures unless my scanner works. Plus, we didn't develop any yet. Anyways, the food SUCKS. Stick with Americanized Chinese Food. It's better. I was so happy to see Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and KFC there, which were the only recognizable restaurants in China. Some other notes are that they drive HORRIBLY! They cut eachother off, come within nanometers of running people over, and they honk every two seconds. I really did not like the trip too much but some aspects of it were fun like Shanghai and the Great Wall. So yeah, just to let you know, there are many better travel destinations than China.

For a sec, I thought you were going to talk about dishes. Anyway, sounds pretty cool. (FYI: Usually you can get film developed onto a CD. )

I'm planning a tour of Asia, starting in a rather dangerous country, and moving North, ending in Korea/Japan.

Anyways, I wouldn't say Chinese food sucks. That's a horrible generalization. I suppose that you aren't used to the textures, etc. If you are a big fat white guy like me who loves food and trying new stuff...Well, Chinese is a challenge, but once you get used to the textures and certain flavours (tofu pissed me off for a long time) you get a unique dining experience...

Oooops, there I go being fat again.

I'm hoping to go to Asia someday. Actually, I like Japanese food more than Chinese.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food, actually... I eat chicken and rice. That's it.

But yeah... I can't blame you for wanting to run to McD's and Pizza Hut. I'd be doing the EXACT same thing.

Dude that is just mean.

I heard asia is cool if you tour instead of go there to whatch your brother train. It would have been funner if you had toured the entire time and looked into it.

'Scuse me? "Funner"? Try "More fun". I don't really know anything about Asia or China, but I have an aunt in Korea and she says it's a pretty high-tech country. I wondered if other asian countries were as industrialized.

That's me too. I'm picky when it comes to chinese food. I only eat a few chinese dishes. I like trying new things..sometimes . I would rather go to Japan than China but maybe I'll go to both when I get rich and have millions of dollars XD

I heard Chinese food is usually spicey, but dumbed down a lot for Americans to handle. I eat fried rice and fried pork and the fried prawns. I'll also eat the box, if it's fried. I'm not into Chinese food much besides that.

I heard havoks eats chinese food everyday.

Also notice how you'll never see Chinese people eating at a Chinese fast-food restaurant.

The exceptions are places that serve authentic Chinese food, or noodle places/etc. But we ordered Chinese today, and when we went to pick it up... well... let's just say everyone wanted ethnic food today.

Heh it probably is toned down for us Americans. Almosts everything is towards us. Maybe we can't handle it .

Mm any fried rice is good. There's this place down the street that makes some good pork fried rice . I like eggrolls but there's only certain kind I like. I don't like the ones with all the cabbage in it. I think that's what that type has in it. The type I like has like..little clear like noodles in it. That stuff with the noodles and soy sauce I think I like. I don't know what it's called. I think it's Chow Mien. I'm not too into the veggies so that's probably why I don't like Chinese food much. I tried lemon chicken and teryiaki last month. It was nummy XD
