Can an SNES9X emulator really connect via the internet to another emulator? If so, how?

Go into the "Netplay" menu. That should give you anything you'd need to connect. You'd also need to be on the internet.

Ok, so how does it work exactly? I mean, what are the steps? Do I just get another comp's IP address into the "Server hostname or IP address", but what about in "Socket port number"? The default in there is 1996... help please? Also, does the ROM need to be loaded by both comps before the link is made? (edited by Knever on 06-17-04 10:44 AM) |

have you tried reading the readme or help file that comes with this game? I woudl think that would explain how to do what you are asking to do...

Right, I guess that is the smartest thing to do when in i a situation like this I never was too keen on reading readmes, I guess I should break that habit. Anyway, I learned how to do it and stuff, but I'd like to know if there's any universal website where people meet up for the sole purpose of playing a game together on snes9x. Any help with that please?

You're better off just using ZBattle if you want to do something along those lines... SNES9X isn't popular enough to have someone work on an equivalent I'd imagine.

I've done it before on a few people that didn't get ZSNES running (which, btw, you'd be better off using overall...but hey...it's your choice). I'll run through these from my past knowledge of 1.42...I've only done it once recently with Kefka: "Ok, so how does it work exactly? I mean, what are the steps?" Basically, you'll have both computers in question having the same version of SNES9x (most recent is 1.42) and have them both up and running and ready to go, one acts as server the other of course will be the client, which links to the server. "Do I just get another comp's IP address into the "Server hostname or IP address", but what about in "Socket port number"? The default in there is 1996... help please?" If you're the server then you'll wait for someone to link to your comp via the IP address or server hostname (like http://www.omgikickass.com) you give them. If you're the client, you'll want to get the IP to type in to connect. Port must be the same, both are set to 1996 by default, if by chance you have a firewall or a router that doesn't allow you to use that port, then you have the option of switching to a different port by that option (not really recommended, it's better if you allow said port on your firewall). "Also, does the ROM need to be loaded by both comps before the link is made?" I believe that the server has to have it loaded to begin with and will wait for the other person to connect, if both don't have the same version, I believe that the server will then send the ROM image to the client (which is something you don't see in ZSNES but you will see as such in the zbattle program for ZSNES). It gets to be second nature after a while, but you might be better off going the ZSNES route (if you can) and even easier using the zbattle.net client with that. So zbattle.net only works for ZSNES then?

I'm not very used to ZSNES, but I'll give it a try and see if it's worth this aspect. Anyone mind testing this out with me?
