Moved it here because it's, well, big news that could benefit most of the board.

If you have Firefox, uinstall that one before installing this one.

Installing Firefox 0.9 over a older Firefox/Firebird version is just like asking for problems.

Not only uninstall it, but also delete any %APPDATA%/Phoenix, %APPDATA%/Firefox, or %APPDATA%/Firebird directories that may exist. Back up your bookmarks, and maybe your cookies if you want to keep those.

I ran into trouble by not deleting the old setting directories.

I downloaded the Firefox 0.9c two days ago, but didn't install it; when I updated from Firebird to Firefox only had minor problems, dealing themes (Sky Pilot Clasic was not compatible with 0.9 ) and a vanished bookmark toolbar folder.

Anyway I'll wait when the German release will be done; then I'll make a new profile and import the bookmarks plus re-downloading all nifty extensions again

I would install it now but it takes forever on 56k..and forever more . I should d/l it since it could probably help things work out better but then again it might not. My computer is almost shot..dead..done with..it's over.

Well, Bella, even when on 56k, downloading a new version of Firefox doesn't occur that often; and it is even less than the full install of Internet Explorer, which takes about 70MB when you have either an extremly old version or no IE at all (YES, it can be removed, though this is not that easy; or if you use an external IE remover); I'm on ISDN, I download with 7.6 KB/s only, but some things are important ... I already downloaded 60 and 70 MB files with that

I tried downloading the last FireFox and it said it'd take like...an hour or something . I'm not sure though. I should try it again. The only thing is that whenever someone calls it shuts off..and when I get back online to d/l something it has to start all over and it still takes awhile..I tried d/ling the new IE but it asks for all those product numbers and stuff..I should just ask my dad to do it or something.

I'm using 0.8 right now.

I don't know, I might d/l it, but I feel like waiting until V1.0 .

I don't know; I like round numbers.

Bah - still have to delete Firefox before upgrading?

I'll do it in a couple of days then. A minor hassle, but still.

Bet you anything the next release is 0.95 or something.

I don't see a new thread coming out every time a new version of Opera comes out.

What's the big fucking deal about Firesux that makes it so goddamn special? I tried it [yes, I did, so shut up]

And considering that I just downloaded the most recent version-- 0.8-- yesterday, I'm not going to bother with getting 0.9. It sucks. Period.

I hate it. Not only does it take an assload of time to load [almost 20 seconds and lags my computer while doing so; IE takes about 5 [but sucks] and Opera takes about 15 but doesn't lag my comp] but then it takes about 2 seconds for it to realize "Hey, he pushed down! Scroll the page!"

I still hate it. I hated it when it was called Firebird. I hate it now.

Thats no reason to shit on a thread!

The reason I posted it was because firefox is widely used on the forum, and I don't know how many use opera, but I'm sure you're welcome to post a thread when that gets updated, just get down off your high horse!

Its a matter of preference over what third party browser you use, personally I don't like opera, but I don't shove that down everybodys throats when there is an opera thread do I? Did I force you to download firefox? NO, so whats the problem?

Who cares? Didja get the Tetris game plug-in? It's soooo worth it just for that.

Wait...did I just troll?

Xkeeper, that may very well have been the only post of yours that I've liked in the entire tenure of our acquaintence. Could have done without the "Firesux" though. That's almost as bad as people using "Micro$oft".

Jesper, what exactly deems this "big news"? I mean, is it THAT much of a change from the prior version?

I installed it and it works perfectly for me, I even got some new extensions like quicknote. Nothing wrong, seems to load faster too, startup wise.

And you can create a thread when a new opera version comes out, as long as it's just not one people using it on the board. About firefox, alot of people use it here, and I for one wouldn't have seen the new version in a while if it weren't for this thread.
Heck, you can make a thread for each IE version too, but that would be around 1 thread every 3 years or so

Stop bragging . I miss my DSL things used to d/l really fast. It actually takes me a while to download AIM or MSN like..30 minutes. I would do it now but my parents are expecting too many phone calls. It takes too long to allow interuptions like phone calls. I wish it didn't kick you off when someone calls. The people should just wait and call back later..unless its really important.

It looks worth it to download. I went to the site and all before when 0.8 was out. It couldn't be any worse than IE I guess.
