4325x - x = 438127458902. 438127458902/4324 = 101324574.2 = x.

Give me a break, I was out all day.

Are you sure all of these are right triangles?

Ha, I'm not out yet!

1, 2, 3, and 4 aren't right, hell, 4 isn't even a triangle (one side's bigger than the other two combined). So I don't need to solve them right?

5's got sides 10, 10, and 14.1421 with angles 45, 45, and 90 respectively.

Oh, sure, put up trivial ones when I'm asleep and then use four-variable equations and exponentials when I'm awake!

JJ, what was the other solution to the number sequence? I just realized that I transcribed mine incorrectly (729 is 3^6, not 3^4) and have fixed it. I had to find a way to get the numbers growing really quickly, so I thought of exponentials, and the only interesting thing about 689 that I could come up with was that it was 729 - 40, or 93 - 10 x 22. Since 11 is also 1(any power) + 10 x 1, you can work from that to get some numbers on either side.

Heian-794, it was 0^1+1^0, then 2^1+3^2, then 4^3+5^4, then of course, 6^5+7^6, and so on.

Also, NSNick, I knew they weren't right triangles.

An obvious solution is zero.

Another is 2.65746.

These are the only two real solutions, as far as I can tell.

Oh, so you DON'T have to show your work..... Alright, then, I probably should have tried harder on that one.

X = 7/9A^3.

4A^3 + 33.44444444A^3 = 445.

445/37.44444444 = 11.884273. The cubed root of this is 2.282, which is A.

7 x 11.884273 = 9X = 83.1899, X equals 9.24.

I had to ignore the actual numbers and call them A, B, C, D... for sanity, but it looks like it works out to:

x = 45037.414
y = 878.793
z = -463.206

I got X = 46012.46464, Y = 885.6944236, Z = -1445.159064

My algebra is messed up
(X = Y + Z) != (X + Y + Z = 0)

with this correction, I get Heian's answers

We'll just have to see which answers are the right ones.

I got the impression that JJ hit a bunch of random keys when choosing the coefficients.

I ended up calling 455445 "A", 45453 "B", 5634562346 "C", 6435345 "D", etc., and then resolving some big complicated fractions involving those, inserting the real values.

JJ, why were there no 0s, 1s, 2s, 7s, 8s, or 9s in this problem?

I solved it by using the first two equations to solve x and y in terms of z, then using the final equation to solve for z. And I used Calculator on Windows, copying the figures to keep as many decimal places as I could.

NSNick, do you have a scientific calculator that accepts algebraic logic? It's really handy to be able to, say, actually type in (45453x455445)/(455445-423423) and have the calculator evaluate it without you having to simplify the inner stuff first. I have no idea how the calculator does this, but it's ingenious!

I think calculator.com a scientific calculator, but its not that good. Its better to own one thats physically existent. However the good ones can get pretty expensive.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) for me, my classes all required me to have a graphing calculator. Those things are neat little devices, much smarter than I'll ever be, and totally obedient! It's like a dog that does your math homework.

Mine doesn't graph, but it has an upper line where you can see what operations you're putting in. A Casio FX 350TL. Cheap at about $16.
