Oh, and I went back to Shadowfire only to find out it's the second lowest populated server. The first? Some Euro one, of course.  But with the next publish, they're going to allow server transfers. | *bump* Just got the game (actually, Chris did) but I think I might end up playing it as well.  Only bad thing is, we cannot play against each other. One, my computer isn't ready to play it and I heard that you have only have on character on one server? *shurgs* At any rate, once I get my character created and things rolling (and a break from work), I'll be playing as much as I can and I know a few here (like the two posters in this thread, as well as Jizzy) plays this game, so, mind helping a newb out once I get in? |

| Wait, I thought you said you were getting Jedi Academy. Jizuko doesn't play this because you actually need to pay for it to play. And you know how he is. Oh, join Shadowfire. It's the best server out there and it's not over crowded like those Bria assholes. Hi Angel! Our people are a lot nicer too. (And we made the first piece of Mandolorian armor. So suck on that Angel!) Yes you can only have one character per serever. Sorta of. See, they're redoing the Jedi system. To become a Jedi, you have to have your character go through a series of quests to advance in the ranks. Then you have a choice of becomming Padawan (and dropping all of your regular profession skills) Or..... When you do get that far, you will have unlocked a second character slot for that server. So you have a choice. Leave your character as he is with all his skills in tact or make a new character from scratch with your new slot, and have him go through all the quests again then make that character a jedi. As for me, I'm staying as a Smuggler/Pistoleer. I'm going to do the Jedi quests for fun and because you get some skill mods by becomming closer to the force. And I'm going to use my second character for more lots (You get 10 lots and you use those to place things in the world such as houses, harvesters, guild halls, bases, etc.. Some things take up 10 lots, and some things take up just one.) Yeah, when you start playing the game, let us know what you want to be and I'll tell you whether it's a good idea or not. Some professions are broke as hell and you should steer clear of them. Some of them, on the other hand, are severely overpowered and are in need of a good nerf. |

| Alright, it's Galaxies alright. I was going to make my char right now, but I'll post it first and you can tell me what you think. Off the bat, I know that I'm going to be a human (usuall all the chars I make is somewhat based off of myself and character that I created for the SF and the likes). I'm thinking about being a female brawler. *pause* Oh, you can mix up classes, I see. Is that the better course of action to do? FYI, I don't like to use guns, I'm more of a sword (double bladed usually) kind of gal. |

| When I first started, I chose brawler too. I ended up mastering it, then I went up the Heavy Swordsman tree (two handed). But it's a good choice. The best pvp classes in the game (besides Combat Medic who are cheap bastards) are Teras Kasi artists AND Fencers (who are one hand swordsman) Fencers get ridiculous defense and dodge mods. It's damn near impossible to hit them and when you do, they barely take any damage. Awesome for pve too. Human is the best thing to go in this game. They can wear any armor and they don't have any faction point penalties when you buy things from the Empire. (If you chose to go Imperial) Other races do because the Empire is anti-non-human. EDIT: Oh, normally I'm melee too but I had to change for this game to be a Smuggler. And you can't equip more than one weapon. (edited by Legion on 07-24-04 02:22 PM) |

Let me guess, he was in Coronet?  Coronet, Theed, and an outpost on Dantooine. That's where most of the players hang out at. I used to get extreme lag right outside the starport. I felt like I was watching a slideshow. But then I upgraded my memory to a gig and it was soooo much better. |

| No they didn't. It goes by the first name. If someone has the name Uberdude, you can't make a guy named Uberdude Dudeman. But that's weird because I tried /addfriend Anya the other day and it said there were no characters by that name. ._o Yeah, you used to start out on whatever planet you wanted too (except for the rough ones like Endor, Dantooine, and Dathomir) but now EVERYONE starts out on Mos Eisley, Tatooine. I'm not online yet but I'm about to log on. I last logged out in the Theed medical center. That's on Naboo. By the way, you could have made your name Anya' and it would have accepted it. | Yikes, that lag was unbearable. It should get better after a server reset though. If not, then somethings wrong with all the servers and I bet it's publish 9.2 they just put out. Sometimes patches will degrade the server performance. This game is known for that. Anyway, I got you a swoop bike, a sword that I sliced myself which is most likely better than the one you're using now, a vibroblade which you can use once you get One handed II, and a Ryk blade which I think is also at II. Here's how the speed of the weapon works. If the speed is 2.1, you attack every 2.1 seconds. You'll want speed over damage at a begginer level. But once you work your way up, migrate to damage over speed because you'll get speed mods as you progress. There's a 1.0 speed cap and you'll eventually reach that so you'll want weapons that are damage sliced. Oh, slicing is what we smugglers do. We can slice armor and weapons to make them either faster, or stronger. It's all random. We can also slice mission terminals to get a better payout. Although it's not all that great. Making money sucks when you first start out. Mission payouts are for the birds. I made my money by getting a harvester. Once you set up a bunch of those, you wait and you get the resource and can sell it on the bazaar. Crafters are always needing resources so there's always a demand. And resources are rediculously overpriced on this server so that's good. Mission payouts go up as you level. They're based on difficulty level. On Dathomir, I run missions the range from 10k to 20k. I do that for a few hours and I'm in good company. But for now, just spend time getting past the begginer tree. I think Mastering all of brawler is a waste of time and skill points. I've done it before and it's just not worth the time or effort. So focus on just one of them. You're already on a good path because fencer is one of the best professions in the game. |

| No problem. You probably pressed the button that removes the gui so you can take better screenshots. Oh, and to take screenshots, press PrintScreen. They're saved to your default SWG directory. |
