I took an ACT "pre-test". I made a 27. Nope, that's not good enough for my mother. She EXPECTS me to get a 30+.

Whoops; forgot this damn keyboard's "7" key doesn't work too well. I didn't make a 2.

A 36 is perfect. Expecting to get anything above a 29 or 30 is basically wishful thinking, unless you're brilliant.

Lemme give yall the lowdown.

A 17 is an average score, and a 36 is a perfect score.

By my having a 28 I did great!

17 is average? so...that would be equivalent to 1030 on the SAT

anyways, as long as you know you tried your best is all that matters. I got into one of the top public institutions of the U.S. with a 1270 SAT score. The average SAT score for my class at UC Berkeley was above 1400

Well, some parents are demanding and expect the best possible things from their kids.

I've experienced that. Not to myself, but a few of my friends basically had their futures mapped out for them by their parents.

Parents are great

As Colleen said, they expect the best possible from their children, coz they only want good things to hapen w/ their kids.

anyways, as long as you know you tried your best is all that matters.

Agree, if you dedicated yourself, you don't have to worry that much at all, but of course that the more you dedicate yourself the higher your pontuatuin at the test is

My parents drain every last ounce of personal life I have to force me into studying bondage. I just sit in my room and play GBA as open revolt. Shit, my brain stopped absorbing material 3 years ago. It peaked! Some people's brains do that faster than others'. No big deal... I just learned all I can learn... I think

27 composite and your mother wasn't impressed? Sounds like my father back in the day with my grades...I think the best I cranked out was a 25 composite, with Math being my best at 30...I somehow brought English up from 21 on my first try to 28 (for writing, go senior teach)...but I actually dropped from 26 to 22 in Science the second go round...go figure.

27 composite is goddamned impressive...actually breaching 24 or around there is really good. 36 and you cheated or you've got too much intelligence for your own good

Just pointing out that the way you phrased this makes it sound a lot more kinky (And, uh, wrong) then you probably meant it to be. I actually had to read it twice before it registered "Oh wait, the studying IS the bondage, he's not actually STUDYING bondage..."

My parents expect me to get an A in Chemistry PAP, even though I'm terrible at math, and the fact that Chemistry's around 80% math, 20% memorization...

I got 28 on my ACT the first go 'round. I'm going to try to get 30 or higher next time. If I do my parents are going to get me a laptop. Plus, with 30 or higher, college is practicly paid for. Scholarships love that stuff.

With my gr. 11 grades, I won't be getting any decent scholarships <.< Next year though, I should maintain an 80+ percent.

Anyways, your mom is a whack job like mine. If you have one class that you can pull yourself up in easily, just let it drop below a fail to show her who controls who.

Standardized tests aren't everything, so don't sweat it too much. Even with my phenomenal scores on the ACT and SAT, I got next to nothing in terms of scholarships. Oh well, I can still lord my test scores over my friends.

Standardized tests are as useless to describe the intelligence of a person as IQ tests are. Standardization means loss of personability, and when that happens, measuring something that's entirely too much of variable to begin with becomes impossible.

oh and i got a million on my sats
