So, I have the OCD and I'm not shy in saying it. I'm stressed a lot and very often, but that part is ok. The other side is that I always have some ''tics''. Like, Always wash my hands, always look behind me, think the people is making fun of me, open/close lights 2 times because something bad could happen if I don't do so ! I'm also a very sociable person. I like to know new people and all, but at the same time, I'm afraid to go see them and say hi ! Those sort of things. So, I'm not shy about saying this because I'm having a great life none the less, but I just wanted to know (for those who want to) if other people had this syndrome or other things like that or anything else hat they're stuck with.

My Mum likes to tease me that I might have it, because I can get all weird and focused on cutting my fingernails. I tell her she's not funny.

I have some Syndromes/disorders though. Depression, Anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. They make me act teh irrational at times.

My grandma has OCD. She always double checks if the doors and windows are locked, and washes her hands a hundred times a day until they crack and bleed. She's also very afraid of germs, so much that she's constantly cleaning and never has the windows open or anything. As a result of this she lives in a very clean environment, so much so that her immune system has gotten really bad because it doesn't have the common germs and bacteria to fight. So when ever she goes out to the grocery store or something it's really easy for her to get sick.

She also almost never leaves her house (because of germs). She won't sit in someone else's car, go to most resturants, go see movies, etc. The same goes for being around animals (they also have too many germs). She also worries constanty and has a lot of anxiety/is very nerotic.

I used to show more signs of it when I was younger with counting and tapping (there was a set rutine, it wasn't random counting or tapping). But the more I noticed it the more I tried to force myself to stop, which is why I don't have OCD (because it doesn't affect my daily life).

HSD: That sounds like a pretty bad case.

Heh, I remember when I was younger I always had to put the crane in a set position after washing my hands, because if I did so, I would be 'safe'. I couldn't leave the bathroom if the crane wasn't in that position. That was why I was always the last person to leave the bathroom if there were several people in it. The only bathroom this applied though, was the bathroom at home.

We also had a rug in the bathroom, and after closing the crane, you could hear the water gurgling down the pipe. So, another thing I had to do to be 'safe' was to stand on the rug, while that happened.

Another thing was that after I've been at the toilet I always had to say this phrase after closing the door. The phrase was something really strange and I'm not gonna say what it was.

But none of those things affected my daily life in any manner, because they only applied to when I was in the house. Of course, it probably made certain family members and cousins think I was a little strange, but..

Well, I may have been a bit of an organization freak when I was younger.

I couldnt stand it if i couldnt find something of mine, then Id frenzy and tear up my room until I found it.... It was creepy seeing me like that...

I also had the obsession of touching every button/shiny thing/ etc I could get my hands on when I was 4-6. The joke was that "I would touch the button that would blow up the earth one of these days "

Both of these thing I have gotten over.... almost gotten over

Dude, those aren't symptom of OCD, if they were, I'd have it. I'm just unduly paranoid about damned near everything.

See, my mother used to tease me about my fingernails.

The reason being, that I used to (and can still, from time to time) get really funny about cleaning and cutting my finger and toe nails.

First, I have to clean out underneath the nails until they are really really white. If the white bit is uneven, I have to make it evenly shaped and everything too.

Then I cut the nails. They have to be evenly shaped, all around the same length, and there must be absolutely NO jagged bits, it has to be smooth, smooth, smooth.

Then I usually wind up cleaning under the nails again, just so it's all even. Then I'll turn the scissors over and clean my cuticles and stuff and get rid of any other bits on my fingernails that I decide I don't like for any reason.

Mum thinks that it's all a sign of me being obessive compulsive or something. I don't think it really is though, but I will admit that I do get rather engrossed and perfectionistic about it.

Ah crap, and now my middle finger on my left hand is demanding attention... there's a dirty bit under there. o.o *goes to clean it*

(I don't have OCD, really... REALLY!)

Yeah...it can cause a pretty weird feeling when the white part is uneven, if you scratch the nail against some kind of silk/whatever...

I get goose pimples from it...hate that feeling... I can

Hmm..I don't have any type of disorder but I think I may have met a few people with certain types in the past. I don't really remember much though. My memory sucks . I do remember a few things. I didn't know they had those types of tics though. At least now I learned something new

Sometimes I might want things perfect with what I do but nothing usually comes out that way . It's like I want to be organized like when I clean my room but by the end of the week every once in awhile it's the same as the week started but most of the time it's not very clean

I have it too, although mine barely affects me anymore, I've learned how to control it for the most part (never do it in public, at all costs).

I know all of the things you've experienced (except the Hand Washing obssesion), but what helps me is to just not do it no matter how much it bothers me, because I know it's not really worth it (I let it slide a bit at home), and it usually goes away after a minute.

The main thing that bothers me is feeling like I have to touch things a lot, but I've pretty good about keeping that undercontrol for the most part.

Another thing is that sometimes I would feel like I was acting a little stupid at times, but I really wasn't, it was just the anxiety of the OCD (I'm finally past that point for good ).
I also hate the stress it causes, but I hardly let it get to that point anymore (it used to be pretty bad).
I also was afraid to do simple things such as saying hi to someone, but never knew it was caused from OCD, but I've gotten over that for the most part.

I don't know what the best advise to give you is, but I think you just have to be really determined to get rid of it, and realize that it only makes your life worse the more you do it, and for long periods of time (somewhere from a week to a month) you need to go against doing any of it as best as possible, and you'll feel a lot better if you can do it (you'll at least be able to get it to a minimal level, and then if you hold back on it some more [even with a small period of doing the obssesions], it'll help a lot more).

Edit: I also noticed that it lowered my confidence with other things that involved human interaction (that one is a little hard to get rid of, as well as feeling like I was doing something stupid around someone, but I finally managed to get past it).

My disorder is Autism. I've already posted a bit about it. Obsessive/Complsive comes with that, a tiny bit. My one qualm is that while using the computer, the NumLock HAS to always be off. I just stare at that light... oh my God, it's mocking me! I don't know why I do that, but hey, it's funny when my dad comes to use the computer, opens Microsoft Money, and starts pressing numbers on the numpad... what happens is the text cursor jumps around the screen to all sorts of data, and when he realizes it he stares at me and goes, "NumLock!!!" I have a friend who's the opposite way. The NumLock always has to be on for him. He thinks a part of him is missing without the light.

I also like Numlock to be On all the time, but that's only because I use the numpad a lot (it's not an actual obsession of mine)

I've never been officially diagnosed with ligyrophobia (a fear of loud noises), but I'm sure I have it. I'm actually not afraid of the noise itself, just of what it does to my body. As far back as I can remember, popping balloons, fireworks, and other sharp loud noises have given me bad physical reactions that go beyond just being startled. The louder and sharper the noise, the worse the "twitch". For instance, around this July 4, some asshat set off an explosive a bit too close to my house. It wasn't too sharp, but it was loud enough to make me jump a little bit and spread prickles across the back of my hands. Other noises would make me feel as if someone had tied a string around my stomach and jerked it sharply upward. The worst reaction I ever had was to a fake cannon blast at Colonial Williamsburg. When that sucker went off, my knees turned to water and I convulsed and almost fell down.

I'm lucky that this phobia doesn't terribly disrupt my life. I can even enjoy events like fireworks displays and historical battle reenactments by sealing my ears shut with my fingers, which muffles the bangs so they fall far below my reaction threshold. Of course, it irritates me on occasion (like when I happen to be at the grocery store when they're blowing up balloons and the employee assigned to that task pops one ), but things could be a lot worse. Still, I wish there were some way to get rid of it...or at least understand why I seem to be allergic to sharp, loud noise. I really don't get that.

Ooh, I get that too... Well, in a way. I have a slight twich in response to certain noises. Nothing like you, though./.. I'm a drummer, and those things are really loud. It must just be certain popping noises, some snare drums make me twitch everytime I hear it close up (And my drum teacher uses one, )
