Well, that's it for me. I'm on vacation in Denmark for a week, so I'll be leaving this topic. Hopefully, Denmark advances, so I'll get to see their QF together with the Danes. Somebody update the titles when I'm gone?

I think for the Scandinavians to go through, Sweden should lose to the Danes. Sweden are comfortable with their goal difference, and if Danes win, they will be more than comfortable, so go Danes! Edit: NEVER MIND. (edited by Kwan on 06-22-04 11:35 AM) |

Goal difference means nothing with an Italy win and a decisive result. I want Bulgaria to win soooooo bad. |

I saw a sub headline on ESPN that there is a conspiracy going on but I didn't get to see the piece they had on this. So, there has been a LOT of controversal calls in this tourney? I would guess so if ESPN is doing a piece on soccer

Get a rope, get a tree, let's hang the referee. The goal that was disallowed was fine in my eyes. I'm bias as hell but normally when I scream that the goal was fine, there's a little part of me that admits it wasn't. However after every single replay, I was genuinely bemused as to why he disallowed that one. The referee was not very consistent in his decisions at all. plus the Portugal keeper blatantly went for all the glory. He saved the crucial one then sent the Portugese player away so he could score the winner and take all the glory. I hope his teammates shun him...or that he collides painfully with the post in his next game |

I just watched it, it was a great match. I felt sorry for England because of Wayne Rooney being taken off. I thought Portugal were the better team though; England were bollocksed. They did out in a great effort for 120 minutes plus Penalities. I'll just describe the goals... Owen, 3rd Minute: Nice flick over Ricardo, but the Purtugese defender should've headed that (Didn't catch who he was). It was a dream start for England. Postiga, 83rd minute: I support Spurs, his club team, and I can safely say that Postiga is a load of shit. I'd do better than him myself... Nice goal though. Rui Costa, 110th minute: Haha!! Just TRY and save that fucker, Calamity!! (David "Calamity" James). Best goal in the tournemant so far, in my opinion... Lampard, 113rd minute? I thought it was the 115th: Ended Rui Costa's moment... I thought Sol Campbell's header wasn't a goal either. John Terry had his hand interlocked with Ricardo's, and I think there was a push before that, at the first header. PENALTIES Firstly, the Peno spot was useless. Even if it was decided to use that end, it was just crappy... I was actually expecting Beckham to cock it right up, and he did, reminding me of the Turkey one Deco could've scored that with his eyes closed... Owen's was a normal, good little penalty. England v Portugal was quite simply...enthralling to watch with owen scoring within the first three minutes it looked as though Portugal were being lead like lambs to the kebab shop..... however Ricardo saving the decisive goal.....then to pour salt on the wounds he scored the winning penalty?!?!?!?! I mean honestly how often does a goalie save the all important shot then score the winning goal? all I can say is I would like to be that guy tonight! |

I'm sure Chilavert (Paraguay) has done that a few times. Maybe Campos for Mexico as well back in the day. I'm sure a goalie might be a better choice than a defender that late in penalty kicks. Kwan: Hell of a game though. I knew that penalties would be a crapshoot but... as usual, England get burned by them. |

France DOWN!!! Well this just killed my whole QF bracket, as I'm 0-2 so far. One would THINK that Sweden and the Czechs will come through for me, but who the hell knows right now. |

I think the Czech's will do well. There has been a share of surprises in the tournament, like Greece beating France... The problem with France is that most of their team are... dated. Zidane, I'm afraid to say, was playing horribly, and it may be the end of his glory days... Some of the rest need replacing Good going to Greece to get this far though! |
