Wayne Rooney and Beckham are posers. They're great players, but they royally piss me off. Anyone remember Paul Gascoigne?

England always lose it at the last minute, because they're complacent. I was suprised not to see any Owen comparitively, either.

We suck. Go Sweden!

I love Rooney. Shows so much intensity and that's always great to see.

Beckham I don't mind at all, but my friend likes to call him... well... it rhymes with "runt". And he's in Spain and supports Real! (And he's from Barca! )

There are some players out there who really know how to play ball, but who act like bastards off the pitch. I think Ibrahimovic, who scored the 4th goal yesterday, is one of them. He seems like he's really full of himself, and I feel that he needs to get down from whereever he thinks he is. Did you know that the guy actually stole a penalty kick once. As in, he wasn't supposed to take it, but he went up and did anyway.

Well, Latvia vs. Czech Rep. is about to begin. The home of Brainstorm versus the home of Staropramen... Tough one. I'd rather have a Staropramen while listening to Brainstorm.
Anyway, Latvia is the underdog in this tournament, so I'm going for Latvia.

EDIT: My GOD what a 1st half! The Czechs were killing the Latvians, but couldn't get a goal, and Latvia went up 1-0 right at the end of the half. Greatest fun I've ever had!
Edit: What the Hell is wrong with that Ref? Marians Pahars was all alone, ready to put 2-1 into a WIDE OPEN goal, and what does he do? Awards the Czechs with a free kick, for something that can't possibly be a foul. The situation? Pahars, a Czech defender, and the Czech goalkeeper all crash in the middle of Czech Rep.'s half. The goalkeeper knocks down the defender, and Pahars gets free with the ball. The ref. blows for a free kick. Now, last time I checked, you don't get a free kick if you're knocked down by your own freaking team-mate! The stupid call ruined everything for Latvia, who I'm sure would have been able to hold off a 2-1 lead (what with the crushed Czech spirits and all), but in stead the Czechs got around to score, and won 2-1. Bah!

Didn't catch the first helf, only managed to catch the two amazing goals the Czech's made. Ex-Man Utd Porborsky managed to make some nice crosses. Fair game to underdogs Latvia, they did well to survive it, but chances are they have a flight home soon. Czechs have two hard games next, but they have a nice chance to get through from what I've seen.

Holland Germany soon. I hope Holland beat those Huns

The match is coming up. As with every time Norway is not in a Championship (which is, sadly, quite often), I root for Germany! The great German team-engine will hopefully show the disbelievers why it's always a foolish idea to count out the Germans. The Dutch may be good, but I'm hopeful that this will work out to the better for the nice guys.

Ugh. Poor show from Holland, they need to get organised and watch where they put those fouls. Germans have been attacking wave after wave, and Frings scores a Beckham-like goal from a free kick outside the box in the 30th minute. I'm sure the Dutch can do better in the second half.

EDIT: Yep, Dutch got more organised, and Van Nistlerooy got an amazing goal from a near-impossible angle in the 81st minute. Result wasn't bad, no idea what good Cocu is doing as a captain, he's bad influence. No sure about Dick Advocat's armpits >>;

I can handle the draw. Yes, it wasn't deserved, Germany had a perfectly organized defence and undermined the tactics of the so-called superfavorites The Netherlands. Germany proved that they are a team to look out for, and that they, as usual, shape up for the big tournaments. One mistake in 90 minutes lead to one crucial goal, it's not deserved, but that's football.

What pisses me off, though, is that an overrated fool like van Nistelrooij was the one to get to score the crucial goal.

As for the "big" match... well... RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD. Overrated my ass.

*eyeballs Colleen* You will pay for that comment... Somehow, you will pay.

Now, for today's big match. Any thoughts? The Greek defence seems great, and they did edge out the Spaniards in the quals. Spain, however, is a neat little team, and probably won't make the same mistakes as the Portugese. I'm thinking a Spanish win, but I won't be surprised if it goes the other way.

Euro 2004, Day 4 (June 15th, 2004)
17:00 UT Czech Republic 2-1 Latvia
Goals: Cze: Baro

I was in a cafe with my friends watching Netherlands vs. Germany yesterday. And I have 2 words: boring match.

I think Holland's team is getting worse and worse over the years. Dick Advokaat (coach) is having a hard time setting up a proper strategy, and on the field that's very noticable. Holland was very offensive against Germany, but in the back it was pretty much just Jaap Stam (who did great yesterday, on a side note) doing most of the work, hardly anyone was getting back in time if the Germans came rushing to our goal.

Holland's defense sucks, and the way how the Germans scored (from such a distance, and nobody even touched it after Frings took the shot) proves it.

Going into Day 5, Francesco Totti is in big big trouble.

Why, you ask? Well, look at these pictures.

Spitting is not tolerated at all by UEFA, and this likely means a multi-game ban for him.

Bah, it's a bad day for Norwegians. Terje Hauge handed out the most undeserved red card ever. The Russian goalkeeper did not touch the ball with his hands. Tsk, tsk.

I'm tired, I'll do stats tomorrow.

Yeah, but looking at the play when it happened, you could see why the officials thought it was a handball.

Taking a look at the evidence, though... It was close.

My guess is that they'll cancel out the red card on an appeal but that doesn't do Russia any good.

Well, yeah, I never thought it looked like a handball, but I was slightly cheering for Russia. Then, when I saw it in slow-mo, I became certain it wasn't a handball. I can see why he thought it would be, but that still doesn't mean it wasn't a wrong call.

So yeah, Russia is out (personally, I'm quite pleased with my title this time, but then again, maybe the fad is getting slightly old), that leaves 15 teams fighting for the gold. Greece is practically ready for the quarter finals. I think they'll make it even if they lose to Russia (i.e. Spain beats Portugal), but all they need is one point to be certain, and from the way they've played Spain and Portugal, they should have no problems getting one point against Russia (or three, for that matter). France will also be ready for the Quarter Finals with a win tomorrow, England will be out, should they lose (strongly doubt that, though).

France and England should both win. At worst England will draw but I can't see them not advancing.

Of course, second place in that group could mean a QF tie with GREECE.

After the 2002 World Cup and now Euro 2004...
I think football is so unpredictable!
And I love the game so much because of this!!
My predictions seem to way off...since I picked the traditionally good teams as advancers from the groups..but i dont care..cuz its so cool to have underdogs beat teams with great reputations!

Yup, Wheelies, that's what I love about football, it's all so unpredictable. Makes for much greater entertainment than movies and such, which you know how will end.
