My apologies, Gb boy. But to me, it is wonderful. I like the idea of being so unique compared to, say, all the other goofballs at my school. I like the idea of being someone with a legal disability, but surpassing many people in school and proving that it's possible for a SpEd student to be sucessful. Like I said, I'm a symbol.

Plus, I just wanted to make a dramatic speech. Hope you didn't mind...

No worries, Schwa. Yeah, all the kids at my school call the students in my class geeks and shit like that, even though we dominate most of the athletic teams, as well.

Well, I don't have autism, but it's close. I have the OCD. It's not fun at all to live with...

what does OCD stand for...obsessive complusive disorder? yeah that's kind rough to say the least. i'm a little more learn-ed in that then in autism so that's rough. what are you complusive with?

Delial, is one of the books you're reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time"? That is seriously the best book I've read in years!

Cornelius, I think I had mild OCD as a kid. For a while I was ridiculously superstitious, and thought that all multiples of 4 were evil and to be avoided. I'd count my steps and take a short extra one if it looked like the total was going to be 40 or 16 or something!

To Cornellius, I'd say be proud that you're different. That's all. Aspurger's has challenges too, but I'm proud to say that I have it. It's actually better to live with challenges in your life because that's what makes a person strong, not the easy things but the hard things. Remember that.

Wanna hear something weird? 7/24/04 was one of my "brother's" birthday parties. This paticular brother, whose name is Brandon, is very social. Weird, huh? Ya know, 'cause usually those with Aspurger's are anti-social.

My friend's bro has severe autism, to the point that he doesn't talk, he makes unintelligable sounds. Still he walks around the house and gets his own food and stuff, and he's doing better...

Erm, what was this topic's point again?

The topic's point was just to discuss Autism, since there wasn't a place on the site to do it yet. I started the thread because I wanted everyone to know how important it was to me.

Gee I don't know, Val. I don't think he explained his post at 'tall...

*dueling banjos plays in the background*

Oh, and I got my first test done and the results where inconclusive. they were testing me for add and other generic learning and faculty syndromes. so, I had a wee talk with them and now I am in the process of being referred. but all preliminary signs point to yes, that I have mild Aspergers...

I had Aspergers when i was younger, I was cleared off the Learning Support list when I was 13 (2 years ago). I had the usual- I looked at objects obsessively at odd angles, close to my eyes, and I never got off a bus without crying. I didn't speak until I was about 3, and I didn't like to walk, so my parents had to carry me everywhere (and I was, and still am, a big person- 6"3 now). The 'boosted' intelligence didn't kick in until I was about 10, then I absolutely exceeded all my previos grades, and I took and got a level 6 at my Year 6 SATs for Science (which was odd, because since then I have done below expectations on Science, I would like a GCSE B). Even before I 'became' smart, I used to do things that would make my teachers laugh- I made a poem at 7 about Mark Lamarr, the TV presenter in the UK. "Mark Lamarr, don't touch radar".

I dont really have any of the symptons now that I had before from Aspergers, sometimes I am aprehensive about things and a little inward but I dont do weird things or have weird habits anymore. The education I got in being in an all-Aspergers classroom was superb- that helped a lot, I think if I was at any other school where I couldn't 'fit' in and develop myself I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Lately Ive been reading up on Autism and I believe I may have a mild version of it. I noticed as I was reading that I have many repetitive habits of living. Ive always been kind of a loner and never really known exactly what to say to people. As long as I can remember ive academically out performed my peers and have had an awesome memorization ability.

I know for a fact im not nearly as bad as I was 2 years ago or so but really im not sure how to go about with my life. I think ive done fine without worrying about everything overall, just by ftrying to fix a small thing everyday or something.

Autism is something I haven't heard of before and have no knowledge of. It kinda sounds bad to have.

All hail the master race, Aspergers! I read most of this thread and Schwa makes it sound like having Aspergers makes you better then everyone. Just thought I'd remind you were all equal, my ass.
