Is this a typo? In my paper, it says Japan won the event, rallying past Canada, 34-21. Daisuke Ohata scored the winner w/9 minutes left, helping Japan erase an 18-10 halftime deficet.

I don't know much about rugby, but isn't Canada good?

We're... a top 12 team. Worse than the big 8 but we can hold our own at times. A perennial World Cup team. Our women are #4 in the world I think...

Depends what team we sent though.

Japan didn't win a game last world cup, I'm pretty sure. But they are exciting and skilled players.

The only real good teams in Rugby are Australia, All Blacks, Springbox and Ireland.

England are shit, they can't score tries, they can only kick goals, which ruins the game.

yeah, japan was a team...but they are ridiculously weak...however, to make the world cup of rugby is still a significant thing. the U.S. too as a team but they are about as weak as japan. If rugby isn't a club sport in college in those countries and more of a sport that makes it down to the H.S. level, then those countries might produce more respectable teams

Japan has some good college and industrial-league rugby teams. I'm suprised to see them win it, but it wasn't a complete shocker.

I didn't know America was any good...

Ladies and gentlemen, there's a description of your current Rugby World Cup champions.

Canada can beat the US in rugby and we made it to the final 8 of the World Cup once... I think in 1991.

Well, my main question is Japan really good?
Because they won a tournament involving good teams ( I think).

Whenever it's on the preview channel, I'll watch the Australian leagues, but besides that, I don't know.

I can only assume that England beat somebody like Australia in the final on a kick?

Who won, and does that make them the best?

England beat Australia 20-17 after a drop goal. A drop goal is when you drop the ball unto the ground and then kick it past the posts without the ball bouncing.

Rugby is cool, but I still haven't learned all the rules.
My dad played for his college and went to Europe to play. He was one of the big dudes that goes at it in the scrum.

I think throw-ins are the coolest. The human ladder that's erected in a second or two, then it all crashing down best part, aside from awesome runs.

I might be a sore loser, but the fact still remains that England are crap and Johnny W. is the most overrated player in Rugby history, do you see him setting up tries? No, because all he can do is kick. Back in the olden days of Rugby League, they had the drop goals set to 3 points, yet all the teams just kept doing drop goals. So they changed the rule to 1 point, because watching a team just kick drop goals all game is just boring as hell.

Hey, Colleen, we're actually on our way up! Just a few months ago, we were in 94th, now we've passed Finland for 93rd. We're now better than both Finland and Bosnia!

See, it's now a proven fact that England are shit, they played the All Blacks last night and got hammered. And their Johnny Wilkinson wasn't playing. England didn't even score a try i don't think (I turned it off when it was 36-3 or something). They're shit end of story!

A Drop Goal is 2 points.

Japan aren;t that bad, they're very fast. However they're better when it comes to the "Hong Kong Sevens" variety, as that version doesn't lend itself to the heavier tackling, and what the Japanese lack on their team is brawn.

"he only real good teams in Rugby are Australia, All Blacks, Springbox and Ireland." You missed Wales on that list, and as we're the only side to have beaten a S.Hemisphere side in the recent tour (Argentina), then we deserve to be on that list.

I have to agree withthe critiscism of England's playing style, they're too dependant on capitalising on their opposition's mistakes, and kicking when within range, that's why they were slaughtered by the All Blacks.... Twice! (Well that and the All Blacks' new coach has had plenty of experience facing England, he's Wales' Ex-Coach). The All Blacks have now overtaken England in the rankings BTW.

The "Big guys in the Scrum" are called the Tight End Prop, the Loose End Prop, and the amusing-for-Americans-name of the Hooker. I used to be a Tight End Prop in my local team (I played Rugby semi-professionally).

My bad.

Anyway England didn't even score a try against the All Blacks. And they got hammered by Australia also, like they do in every sport.

Just admit, England suck at sport.

And I loved every minute of it. 51-15. One of the highest margins between the two teams ever.

Bring on the Ashes and you'll see an even more one-sided contest though

It's because they use some kind of rugby-fu. You know that you would if you could.
