| One thing that I can't stand, is people getting my name wrong. I'm sure it irks other people too. When I first met one particular board member way back when (who shall remain nameless), I confused his name for a certain pastry, and many other made the same mistake since then. My question is this. Have you had anyone else mess with your name so much that it turns a small irk into a major annoyance? Oh, and I case you were wonder what brought this thread about, it's the people who keep calling me Jakuroth... IT'S JARUKOTH. JA. RU. KOTH. NOT THAT TOUGH TO SPELL. | I called Rydain "Rydian" for the longest time. I thought it was like a pill or something, I don't know. She was even on my AIM list. There's even someone named Rydian who signs on. The person never IMed me back so I thought Rydain was being a bitch.. etc etc Jarukoth, I've barely noticed you ever. No problems here. | Well, no, not really, your logic ain't flawed. The name SomerZ is taken from my real-life surname, which is Sommerseth. The h in Sommerseth is silent, so it's really pronounced like the English county Somerset. A Norwegian Z is pronounced set, thus SomerZ is a simplified spelling of Sommerseth. So calling me SomerZed is actually quite near to being correct. That being said, a lot of my real-life friends actually call me "Somesh". That is because they pronounce the nick SomerZ (which I use in real-life, as well) as if the Z was an S (which it often is pronounced as in Norwegian). You'd think it would become SomerS, then, of course, but in my Norwegian dialect, if R and S are put together, they are pronounced as a retroflex SH-sound. | I've seen people writing LizardKing with a small k, but I've never gone all out and complained about it. The most common mistake with my name is to write it in two words, like Lizard King.. and that's what annoys me the most, but I've never complained about that either. Next time I see someone doing a mistake with my name though, I will. |

"Jarukoth" -> "Jakuroth" is just one of many name confusions ... Kharpern was often called Kharpen, and you think people never get lost with the "Acmlm" spelling?  aclmm, acmim, acclm, aclml, acmlmclmlmclmalm ... doesn't bother me that much, and I'm perfectly fine with the easier "Milly" name some of them gave me, but it gets weird sometimes |
