| Blizzard has opened up the World of Warcraft site that they will be using as the hub between them and the beta players. It will most likely be your central source for World of Warcraft info for the game, aside from blizzard's official site. As you probably already know. WoW is NOT based on Battle.Net, unlike their previous titles. Think of this new World of Warcraft site as the equivilant of Battle.net, in terms of a source for information about the game. Once the beta is over that is, for now it will also serve as the hub for beta players. | |||

| Blizzard will only select the beta testers when... - The servers are up and running. - The game files are posted. - The beta CD's are ready to be mailed off. Signs are pointing to sometime within the week, but Blizzard always waits until things are perfect. |

I really want this game too, hopefully my parents will let me use their credit card to pay for it  . I'll deffinatly play the open beta release though, It'll probably be a while before that though. |

| They've got the server up since last night according to the status icons on the site. Though all of the players on it are blizzard staff doing some final checks. Like Colleen said,I expect to hear some sort of word from Blizzard on when the beta starts, this week. But remember they'll be sending the acceptance e-mails first. It's Blizzard.  There'll obviously be plenty of bugs found in the beta, but if they can't put more than 50 people on the server without it crashing... It's not going up. No beta today BTW. I think all the idiots on the b.net forums who are spamming about the beta should be DQ'ed to better the odds for the rest of us.  |

No beta today but they're really close now - when Blizzard gets into "tease" mode, they're close.  My bet would be Friday. Thursday would be too soon UNLESS the beta server's fully functional. I can't see Blizzard releasing it Friday unless everyone's going to be working non-stop through the weekend. What I could see, however, is a release of the e-mails/client on Friday but the server only going up on Monday. Gives people time to download the large file. |

The beta's officially live as of 9 PM this evening - and man did the b.net forums look like a mess.  I don't have an e-mail yet... from Katricia on the b.net forums: Check your inboxes ... the emails are being processed in batches and may take several hours to reach you -- in some cases as long as a day or two. Good to know at least especially since nobody seems to have a beta e-mail yet. (Aside from fansites, who more than deserve them of course.)EDIT: To Yarx and any other Canucks - *NO* Canadians are reporting receiving a beta e-mail (aside from Blizzard Friends and some alpha testers). | Well, here's how I see it. If I get into one of the beta phases, sweet. Gives me time to check out the game, test it for bugs and see if it's "all that".If the only option is an open beta... Screw that. Stress test + bunch of morons on the servers = no fun.I'm not blaming Blizzard for Canadian bias unlike everyone else giving our country a bad name. |
