| Something has me fumbled, and I don't know if anybody else is suffering from it as well. Though one of my controller's acting pretty nasty out of nowhere. Started not long ago, as when I turned on my Gamecube to Super Smash Bros. Melee and went to the main menu, the game was scrolling up through the menu on it's own, like if one was holding up. Still, my thumb hadn't even touched the joystick or the Control Pad... After some fiddling, I fix it, but after some time it comes back, and it really fumbles up some gameplay. I'm guessing this is an example of Gamecube controller wear and tear, but it could be something else... Anybody have been experiencing this problem at all, or possibly know what's up? Hopefully it isn't a sign that the controller is starting to die out or anything.  |

! Happend to me. But only because my little brother thought it'd be a fabulous idea to bite the joystick. It kept moving to the right.  I stopped using it for a month, went back to it, and haven't had a problem since.Another incident is with this other controller I have. It would always move without being touched in the second player slot, but not the first. Sometimes it would move in both. Eventually syrup got spilled on it, so I couldn't test it. I don't know why that one was acting up. It could be a GCN malfunction. :\ |

| Are you sure you just weren't accidently holding down when you turn the Gamecube on? I remember with the N64 if you hold the control stick in any direction when you turn it on, it sets that position as the default 'still' position, so when it is actually still, it moves in the opposite direction. | Really. I thought this was a well known thing by now... If you hold the stick down why turning the system on, your controller will be all screwy like that. Same goes for other systems. |

| Well, it's something like that, except it loves to trail up. It could be because I'm rather rough on a controller when I'm playing Soul Calibur II, so that might be a reason why. Other than that, I may have to crack the thing open and mess around with that joystick part, but... I really don't think that's the brightest idea. What's funny is that from all this, the B button isn't all sticky in a way. (You know, when you don't feel the button push down, yet it still works and such.) EDIT: I highly doubt it has anything to do with the holding down bug that we have done from time to time. I mean, everytime I move the joystick left or right, it drifts up or down as from what I'm seeing on the Character Select screen in Smash Bros. Melee. Are you exactly sure the bug does that? | It depends on what position it's in when you turn the machine on, that's what we're saying. If you're not touching it when you turn it on and the joystick is definitely in the 'neutral' position, fine, then you're far too rough with your controller and you've broken it somehow. I have never had any problems with any of my game controllers ever. |

| Well, I'm just going to let it sit for a few days, because it hasn't gotten this bad until now, but it's usually have a small, but not bothersome drift... Though how can you say you haven't had problems with the Gamecube controllers? You're telling me you haven't been plagued with that B button thing at all...  |

| Nope. I've had zero problems with both of my Gamecube controllers. And no problems with my old Snes controllers, and no problems with my old N64 controllers. Softly softly. You bring it upon yourselves. |

Check if the controller correctly connected to the gamecube, I had something similar happen to my gamecube. So it can be loose connection to...  So disconnect and then connect it propely again, if your lucky that could be your problem. If that dosen't help you may have to replace the controller, or repair it in some way. | That happens to my friends every once in a while. All he does is unplug it, blow on the whosamacallit, which I can't think of now, the thing you plug in, and then plug it back in. 9/10 it works fine. |

| Yeah, even though I did all that, it seems that the controller still acts goofy and annoying, so I'm just going to let it sit. I could try blowing out the plug...let since it seems to be the 1st player socket this controller has the most trouble with... Ehhh, I don't know what to say about the Gamecube controller really, I guess I'll need to lighten up on reactive moves in Soul Calibur 2 and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Those games seem to make me play a little hard on the joystick.  |

| This happens to me a lot too. After unplugging it and putting it back in a few times it usually works fine. A bigger problem is that the rubber is actually coming off the stick...  |

| GameCube controllers crap out quickly. They're pieces of shit. I've had several screwy analog sticks and buttons that don't spring up. Recalibrating doesn't help if the controller's bust. And I have ancient SNES and N64 controllers that work perfectly. My N64 controllers I've used far more and far more aggressively than any of my GameCube ones. | KirbyNite pulled my GC contoller out of the cube too hard and the connector became detached, after a while it rubbed the wires and severed them. Now sometimes when I plug it in the cube will just lose power. (edited by Sion on 05-22-04 06:03 PM) |

| Nice to see his bro ratted me out.. Anyway, from what I can see, the thing was broken already, or already loose enough. The thing didn't want to come out at all, and wiggling it didn't seem to do much. I started to freak out when I saw the part that actually connects to the 'Cube was still in, and that purple casing was coming out. I managed to pull it out through that thing that was stuck in the port, but I was still freaked.... *shrugs* And if it was my fault, kharma kicked my butt. I've gone through lots of Gamecube controllers.. Three of them are official controllers, and those still seem to work the best... The third party controllers (I think I've gone through four) just.. suck. One caused the Gamecube to shut off, another kept on pressing right on the analog for any kinda movement you do, and the other one.. Keeps on disconnecting itself from the Gamecube. *sighs* I believe Smash Bros. is the cause for the analog sticks to start going bad. Hopefully, someone will find the solution to Smashing. |

| My cousin has a controller like that... he threw it against the wall once (I don't know why), but the analog stick acts like it's constantly rotating. It's pretty difficult to control. Whenever I jump, it looks like a spin jump. | |||

| Had the same Problem with all Controllers on Port 4, wavebird not even working. I cleaned the four Sockets and the Plugs, much less problems yet (troublesome 4, had to clean again). |
