For any and all that like playing Unreal Tournament original, I have started a dedicated server. It will mainly run deathmatch, but don't be too surprised if you see some CTF occasionally. I recently installed Knoppix Linux, so I am running it on there. So far I haven't even had to actually reboot once, so the server uptime should be pretty decent. Currently the player limit is set to 6, this not being a brand new machine I must sacrifice a bit to improve the ping  (3 on 3 CTF-Face is actually excellent) If for some reason when you try to connect it's down, just try again a little later, as I am more than likely tweaking something to improve the server.I will often come and play myself on another machine on the LAN, as 'madMonkey'. the server IP --> 24.76.29.186 To connect, (in case you are new to opening IPs manually in UT) go to the 'multiplayer' menu, and select 'open location' and just paste the IP in there. Also, i have been unable to successfully see my server advertised on the in-game server browser. If someone sees it there (the server name is 'the UT Dojo --Canada --Linux server' I believe) could you please post in this thread to let me know? Much obliged This same IP is listed in the 'come play with me' thread. Ignore the time and date, that's old. You can now come and play whenever you want, and feel free to schedule games on the server as well. You might want to let me know though a bit ahead of time so i can be sure to keep the bandwidth free if possible, or maybe set some maps you would like to play. If your ping is terrible, I apologize. I am currently still learning how to tweak settings to improve performance. Also, this server is based in Canada. So if your ping sucks and you ore on dial up in Egypt... don't blame me  |
