I actually plan on trying to make a Black Mage costume. I'm not sure if I should make it Classic (NES), PS1 (FF9), or FFT:A (play that) like. I may end up going with classic. It's simple, and I have a really great idea planned.

Light-up eyes. Yellow light-up eyes.

Thanks for the compliments!

iJdream - Anime Central was held May 14-16 at the Hyatt in Rosemont, Illinois (which is just outside of Chicago). We don't live anywhere near there, but our friends do and wanted to go to the con, so we flew in for the event. Easy 3-hour drive to Pittsburgh (flying out of State College jacks up the price of tix like crazy) + 1 1/2 hour plane trip PWNZ a crappy 10-hour drive.

TooL - That's not an edited photo (heck, we haven't even gotten around to flipping the sideways ones right side up ). That guy actually wired a 3-D question mark to the top of his helmet. On Saturday, he had an exclamation point, but we didn't get a picture.

Vystrix Nekoth - If you're talking about my Felicia costume, that was my first major sewing project ever, and I was admittedly lazy about craftsmanship. This time around, I put much more effort into doing things right.

Jill - I've been thinking about that, especially because it would be a great excuse to learn to gradient dye (Rikku's Lady Luck costume actually goes from yellow to orange) and an interesting challenge (the basic pattern doesn't seem that tough, but judging from the other Lady Lucks I've seen, it's tricky to keep it from gapping as you move around - I'd use cotton/Lycra and attach key portions of the costume to undergarments to keep it in place).

Anya - Yay Otakon! We're driving down just for Saturday because I have to see this installation that a friend is setting up in the Artists' Alley. I don't know if I'm going to be dressing up, though. I was thinking of trying to get Rikku's Machina Maw jumpsuit together, but I'd rather just start Zhang He. That's going to be insanely complicated.

ErkDog - w00t - another Zhang He fan. I first played Zhang He because his claws reminded me of Vega from Street Fighter II, and I had so much fun going postal on everything that he quickly became my favorite character. (The effeminate qualities that Yiffy Kitten mentions crack me the hell up, too.) I'll certainly post pictures of that when it's done (or even when I just get the weapons finished, as they're pretty much a project in and of themselves!)

Sofie - I did make a headband and a big gold clay horn (with a curlicue on the end, nonetheless), and it looked great...until I tried to wear it. The headband wasn't sturdy enough to support the weight of the horn, and it drooped so much that it looked stupid, and I was afraid that it might tear. I'm going to redo it for a future convention. I tried to do my hair, too - I got a big hank of synthetic hair that matched mine and braided most of it into six small braids, leaving the rest loose. I bobby-pinned that into the base of my ponytail and then pinned the ends of the braids into the base to make loops. I didn't think to put more bobby pins in to keep said loops arranged neatly around my head, though, so they all fell down into a jumble at the back of my head. You can kind of see them in some pictures, but it does just look like a high ponytail. Oh well...at least I know how to fix it next time I dress up...

ismannen - Thanks! *looks up pictures of Cheza* That would be an interesting costume indeed...

Trashykins - I was wearing tights underneath the bikini bottom. You can see their waistband in some of the pictures. I was going to make swimsuit liner leggings and paint my tattoos onto them with fabric marker and baste the sash onto the waistband to hide it nicely, but I ran out of time. Bleh.

Sion - By other cosplayers...do you mean something like this?

*snickers* I just couldn't resist the gratuitous link to Man-Faye...

Kefka - Are you talking about the ribboned bunch of hair on the bottom edge of the Sailor Bubba pic? If so, that's the back of someone's head. I can see how it resembles a dog's butt, though.

Jarukoth - That's an Amano version of Rydia from FFIV. Amano is the guy who draws the elaborate, wispy, detailed variety of official Square character art. Here's a link to his FFIV drawings.
