If it works, it's quite a big Poll, no? So, after a little asking in #Acmlm's, I got a fair Idea what kind of handhelds there are out there. So, feel free to vote for your favorites. The primary goal of this poll is to evaluate the possibly best handheld device on the past, present and future marked. So, consider the game library, the design, handling, battery life and overall enjoyment. If you only played with one handheld ever, mention it. If you got a draw with two, vote for both. If you just did vote without reading this post, bad user. First read, then act. Thanks. (All brands (C) and/or TM their respective owners). |

How can you POSSIBLY vote for the DS? It's not even out yet! For all you know, it could be the biggest bomb in handheld history. I doubt it will, but there's a chance. Slim chance but.... Anyway, I voted for both GBA and GBA SP. The GBA for reasons that should be obvious to everybody and the SP because of the lighting feature. I don't like how you have to buy an earphone adapter for it, but the battery charger and lit screen pretty much make up for it. A downside to the battery is that if you take it camping and it runs out of battery life, you're screwed less ye have a generator or something... At least with the GBA you can always carry batteries with you and feel secure that you'll have plenty of gaming time if stranded in the middle of nowhere. But you have to give the original Gameboy props. It and it's entire familyline has dominated handheld gaming for well over a decade now destroying so much competition in it's past over the years. Think about how many handhelds were suppose to be "Gameboy killers" and look where they are now. That's power right there. (edited by Legion on 05-18-04 03:04 PM) |

I can't vote for the DS because 1) I haven't played it 2) It looks like it'll be hard to get used to controlling I voted GBASP because 1) It has more game selection than anything else 2) You can play in the dark 3) You don't have to pay for batteries Yea, that's more than enough to back up GBASP right there |

The Poll is inaccurate. N-Gage QD Not QS. As for the best, I haven't bought a handheld since the original fat gameboy I'll probably end up buying a PSP and DS though, when they come out. If I'm still interested... |

I voted for the Nomad and the SP. SP: I have one, and it's great. Nomad: Portable Sega Genesis. Need I say more? Why I didn't vote DS or PSP: They're not out. (edited by Cymoro on 05-18-04 06:16 PM) |

Game Boy Advance SP and the orginal Gameboy. I don't need to say why SP is good... but I explain why I also did take the orginal Gameboy. Not many people have the orginal Gameboy, and it's so big that it's sure attracts attention. |

SP and the original. The original, because it was THE handheld. I still remember car trips to Florida wtih Dr. Mario. SP, modern, sleek, nice lighting. Not very sturdy, but awesome nonethless. |

Oh my god, I just noticed that Game.com is on there. I have one of those just mere feet away from me right now. The pen has long since been lost but I still have the Lights Out and Mortal Kombat carts for it. That thing was HORRID! I wonder if there's anyone out there still playing this thing online. Ugh, 56k... |

My god, the Nintendo Fanboyism here is just gone up to horrific levels... who were the dumbarses who voted for the DS? Idiots. NE ways, I'll vote for the Original Gameboy. Tetris is one ofthe best games ever made, and SupermatioLand 2 rocks As for the next gen, I like the look of the PSP... a LOT.... But I'll reserve judgement until I play them myself. |

The SP is, as of right now, the best handheld there is. Not only for it's kickass games, but just because I have the old Nintendo (Famicon) styled one.

What fucking games did game gear have? the only notably good ones were sonic ones. Everything else on that system sucked ass. Other reasons why game gear sucks 1. it was like carrying around a fucking brick 2. 6 batteries only lasted you 3-4 hours if you were lucky. Makes a handy flashlight though if in need of a quick fix=) I'd say the SP...Comfortable, pocketable, its own battery.... Yeah, you know it all NGPC's pretty up there though. Same with Nomad. That thing deserves more recognition. (edited by Valcion on 05-20-04 03:21 AM) |

With the lack of the Gamepark 32 alternative, I chose Game Boy, since it started the whole thing more or less.

In my opinion, it would have to be the Game Boy Advanced SP because it has a rechargable battery and it folds. I liked all of the other Game Boy too but I hated buying AA batteries every few weeks. I also like the colors for the SP like the Flame colored ones but mine is a mixture of Platinum and Flame colors.

SP. Doy. The Nomad would've been pretty groovy if it didn't suck hard on the batteries. |

Actually, the Game Gear did have some decent-to-good RPG's (including Shining Force) and a couple of good Genesis ports, mainly of platform/puzzle games. ...And the Sonic games. Yes. |
