Welp, around 6 PM tonight, the Coventry High school's Music department will be putting on its annual Spring Concert.
I play the tuba in both the wind ensemble, and the concert band.

Anyone else play in their High's band, or did at one point?

Only had a concert band with the small school I went to...can't say I was anywhere near phenomenal for the ten years I played Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, or the one Contrabass...but...I'm not sorry I did either (minus the fact that you will not see many guys playing Clarinet, but then I had braces at the time...so like I was really gonna attempt something like Trumpet and cut my lips up).

[dusts old box] [coughs] Yea...this baby still exists...old fool's gold medals in here too.

I was a member of the males choir, and barbershop ensemble.

I wasn't allowed into band because I missed ONE meeting a year before the damned thing started. And it caused my mark to drop 30% because apparently, you get an automatic 30% added onto your mark. Despite being PERFECT at doing theory tests, etc. I failed.

Okay...I dunno who the fsck does the schooling there...but that's just plain stupid. I mean, plain and simple. I mean I'm pretty sure they were trying to keep incentive for you to keep up with the rest of the class and whatever and be punctual and whatever to everything...but I never got why you should suffer over one loss...especially since a lot of people tend to take this seriously.

Wow, our band is pretty decent, but we let anyone who signs up for it in

Jazz band, and wind ensemble require a tryout, but that's it.

Awesome! Similarly, last year, I was a member of the Acapella ensemble, which did many songs similar to those of a barbershop ensemble.

member of the Saint John's Highschool Jazz Ensemble (Red Group). I play piano in the rythm section...one of the three instruemnts I know. I also played vibes at the christmas concert, since none of the percussionists had ever seen, let alone play a vibraphone I had to write a part to the funk version of Up on the Rooftop. Ah...that was fun right now...well we have a final concert coming up, I'm trying to convince my teacher to let us do Mute City's jazz arrangement from that one arranged CD. I left him the CD and he thinks its all interesting so...

Well, Spring 04 came and went.

Overall it was really good. We had a few slight problems, but other than those, we did pretty good.

You're looking at the principal percussionist (the lucky one who got to sit behind the kit!) for 5 years at high school, through these 3 years at college and currently principle percussionist at Clitheroe Town Band!

Anyone who says concert wind band music sucks will die!
