Who were ever scored jackpot at a garage sale.

I mean, something was for sale dirt cheap and you knew it was worth a lot more.

If you bought it, what did you do with the item ?

If not, why didn't you buy it ?

Tell the story and the outcome.

I'm asking this because my friend scored a set of rare VW rims today at a garage sale. 100$CDN for 4 .... normally, they go for 300-400$US for a set.

Now, story time.

There was a garage sale a few houses away on Saturday.

I didn't head there though, and apparently that was a good decision. All that was being sold was pretty much junk. And aside from one or two board game finds at them, I've had very little luck.

We had one a few years ago when we moved... That went well I think. We had some semi-valuable stuff to sell.

My dad got a Sega Saturn for three bucks. as well as a few ink cartridges (probably don't work) and lame ass music..

I remember a friend of mine getting a ton of nes games for ten bucks, including Final Fantasy.. hah, it's so nice to take advantage of those places.

I got a socket set for $20 that retails for over $200!

And I got wheels at a junkyard in perfect condition for $60, retailing new on eBay the last couple months for $600... Just to compare wheel deals

Garage sales are great, although the ones around my house usually aren't all that good. I plan on looking for a futon and/or couch for next year at garage sales this summer.

My friend's family just threw a pretty decent one the other day. They had a donut maker that I thought was pretty neat, but I passed, since I'm not sure how my mom would react if I brought home a freakin' donut maker.

They also had an external Zip drive for sale. Wasn't 100% sure if we really needed it though...

NES plus several games that went with it, grand total of 10 dollars.

I must mention this was back around...'91...or '92...right when SNES was making the big time with Genesis.

Too bad I couldn't buy it.

I've never seen a garage sale, but Belgium has some sort of market where you can sell off your crap if wanted.
I really want to start buying furniture and the likes for when we move out of here, and it's become rather obvious I need to look into second hand furniture first XD
I'd love to find a kingsize bed for cheap

An NES plus about 10 games (some good, some bad) for 20 dollars is the best thing I've ever gotten from a garage sale. I still use it, and gave away my first NES. I do prefer the blue screen of my old NES to the gray screen of my new NES, though...

I've attended one, and I got a book that I haven't read, Spymaster.

I always thought that I had enough junk as is, and I didn't need any additions.

NES with Game Genie, 4 controllers and all the AC adaptors and RF boxes you could ever need for 2 bucks, with games at 50 cents each.

Never been at a garage sale. But I have been at flea markets. And sometimes you find a intresting NES game or two.

Thought my old NES is perfect, the controllers aren't.

Haven't really been to garage sales, but the season's starting up now... Either way, I thrift, and that's close enough.

So what're my best finds? Sega Genesis, with Sega CD attached, and a third-party controller for eight bucks. It should've been more, but because they attached the two, the cashier didn't look at the price tag on the CD unit. That, uhm... Golf for the NES, new in box, for $4. I also snagged a Reservoir Dogs figure, never removed from the package... I think it was two or three bucks. I'd check as to which one it was, but I don't know, and it's packed up.

Bleh! I regret selling my Sega CD and Sega Genisis and games all together for around 20 bucks I think at one of our garage sales. I miss it! I miss Sonic . That was a score for the people down the street. I'm gonna go to the flea market when I get money and buy another one . I haven't really gotten a lot of things from a garage sale. We got this glass thingy on our porch that my mom puts plants on. I don't think that was very expensive but it's nice .

My dad calls garage sales, garbage sales..heh I saw a few that were literally garbage sales. When we were driving back from my uncles these people were selling stuff that looked like they got it out of some field. Old tires and pieces of wood , well maybe it was something more to them at once.

My father tried to sell this Minne Mouse tricycle that I used to use when I was three for fifty cents. He dropped it to 25 cents later since nobody bought it.

We still have it, I think.

I got Pokemon Collessum for my sister for only five dollars, since they were desperate to get rid of it. She hasn't touched the game though.

I got a Ms. Pacman Coleco video arcade game once for pretty cheap. I don't remember how much it was because it was a long time, and it was my parents that had payed for it. Besides that I can't remember ever finding anything of interest at a garage sale.

My uncle got a Nintendo Power glove once, and then he pretty much gave it to us.
