It doesn't matter to me who hosts the show. I just want the second point that hasn't been updated yet.

Announcer: Shut up, wolfman! You've had your stinkin' point! Oh, and one last thing before we get to the points. Jagori got the right answer and the right words except the word "I" should've been replaced with the word "therein" I know, I know, technicalities suck! Screen of Points: NSNick -- 16 Points Jagori -- 12 Points Kirby All The Way -- 9 Points Kefka -- 6 Points Felix -- 6 Points Emptyeye -- 4 Points LostAuzzie -- 3 Points wolfman2000 -- 2 Points JJ64 -- 2 Points Geeogree -- 1 Point Ultimanium -- 1 Point neotransotaku -- 1 Point Screen of Shame: Jarukoth -- 0 Points Edsgravy0 -- 0 Points Xkeeper -- 0 Points ETG -- 0 Points Screen of Valiant Effort: Apple -- 0 Points Announcer: Also, thanks for the positive feedback, maybe all those cheerful posts (except for wolfman's) will be enough to bring back Teddylot . . . or not. Question 55: Granny Smith, who was leaving Montreal, boarded a train at four minutes past the hour. After boarding, she stuck her head out of the window and shouted to the ticket man, "How far are we from Toronto?" "All trains take five hours either way," he replied. "How many trains shall I meet on the way?" asked Granny. "A train leaves Toronto at five minutes past the hour, every hour" answered the ticked man. How many trains will Granny Smith meet? Announcer: Stupid ticket man! Can't even give old Granny a proper response. (edited by Teddylot on 06-15-04 12:09 AM) |

Well, assuming the train leaves that very minute, Granny will see 10 trains pass by on the tracks, and will see one parked in the station at Toronto.

Announcer: Nice try, NSNick, but it's not the answer I was looking for. However, you are on the right track to getting the right answer.

Um...she'll see 5 on the way, plus one preparing to leave once she gets to Toronto. So I guess 6.

Announcer: Wrong again. NSNick was closer to the answer than you are, Emptyeye. I think he might've had a miscalculation of somesort, but he was dead close. *ponders*

Announcer: No, no it doesn't. Come on you guys! You're slacking off and making the show look bad all at the same time! You must have a some sort of talent if you can do that.

Announcer: Ugh, Kirby! You guesser! Anyway, Kirby All the Way has the right answer here. I know some of you may be going "OMGWTF?!", whatever that acronym means, but I assure you there is a totally viable explanation. To the screen, comrades! Answer: Nine. When Granny Smith leaves Montreal, there are four trains on the way and a fifth train just starting out. Granny will meet all of these. Also, another train will start when she has gone 1/5 of the distance, another at 2/5, another at 3/5, another at 4/5. When she reaches Toronto, a train will be at the point of starting. If we assume that she does not meet this one on the way, or meet the one that arrived at Montreal as she left, she will have met nine trains altogether! Announcer: Isn't that just mindnumbing! Question 56: There are two ships of equal size and strength. One is made of wood and the other of steel. Can you explain which one is heavier? |

wrong but... if the ship is small, then the wood one will be lighter since you would need only thin wood and thin planks of wood is lighter than steel (implies small steel boats are heavy). however, if the ship is large, then steel would be lighter since you would need more pieces of wood for the same amount of area... |

Well, if they're the same size, wouldn't they be the same weight too?

i didnt guess I had a whole thing worked out... but then I proved myself wrong 3 ways... so THEN I guessed... And for this riddle...steel is more dense than wood, which means it has more mass... and weight = amount gravity pulls on an objects mass... so teh more mass, the heavier an object, right.... Yeah, the steel ship is heavier I suppose |

For them to be the same strength, you'd need a lot more wood. So... I say the wood one. (edited by Jagori on 06-16-04 07:51 PM) |

Question 57: While on safari in the wild jungles of Africa, Professor Quantum woke one morning and felt something in the pocket of his shorts. It had a head and tail, but no legs. When Quantum got up he could feel it move inside his pocket. Quantum, however, showed little concern and went about his morning rituals. Why such a casual attitude? |

I wouldn't care much if I awoke to find a coin in my pocket either. A coin has both a head and tail. |
