Running for ten minutes would use more energy. You'd cover more distance running than walking in the same amount of time, and since equal distance = equal energy, then greater distance run = greater energy spent.

Teddylot: Jagori, once again, amazes us all with his profound ability to answer our "riddles" at the speed of sound.

Announcer: Therefore, leaving everybody in his wake ... except for maybe NSNick.

Teddylot: Because he probably threatens Jagori with blackmail or threat letters.

Question 78:

Duncan Drivel hailed a cab. While being driven to his destination, he started chattering non-stop to the driver. The cabbie realized that Duncan would not shut up, so he resorted to an old cab driver's trick. He looked into his rear view mirror and said, "I'm sorry mister, I can't hear a word you're saying. My hearing aid broke down this morning. I'm quite deaf even when it's working, but believe me, when it's not working, I'm completely deaf." At his destination, Duncan realized the cab driver had lied to him about his hearing problem. How did Duncan know the driver was lying?

Because if the cab driver was really deaf, he wouldn't have heard Duncan talking to begin with and thus would never have made the comment in the first place.

Question 79:

Slip Shodd was bragging about the ranch he had purchased, when Charles Pompuss commented that it was probably just a 'piddy little' two horse farm. Slip thrust out his chest and replied, "My ranch, I'll have you know, has all horses but two, all cows but two, and all sheep but two." How many animals does Slip own?

Question 80:

Shadow approached one of the many bars aboard the posh 'Pinnacle II' cruise ship and overheard Jack Tar, the alleged hero of the day, spinning a yarn. "I've been a sailor for twenty years and never experienced anything like it," said Jack. "I came out of my cabin door and heard gun shots. I saw a man at the front of the ship waving a gun around, so I immediately hit the floor and covered my head. I looked up moments later and saw a gun lying right in front of me. I picked it up and fired the first shot in the air, and the second at the gunman. Fearing for my life I ran to the back of the ship. Next thing I knew there was security everywhere and they said I shot the assassin and was the hero of the day." Shadow doubted anyone could possibly believe that story. Why not?

Being a sailor for "twenty years" as Jack said, he would have called the front and back of the ship by their nautical names, the bow and stern, I believe they are.

Question 81:

Suppose you have a bottle of wine which has its cork secured in the usual way. Without having a corkscrew available to open the bottle, how would you be able to drink the wine?

Well, if you can't pull the cork out, why not just push it in? Get a blunt object and force it downward, you'll only lose a small spray of wine from the pressure, and you'll be able to enjoy the wine as it is. You could do it fast or slow, if you do it quickly you'll lose a short burst of wine, you do it slowly you'll lose tiny leaks of wine, but overall there shouldn't be any problem with it.

Teddylot: Testing, testing ... 5, 2, 8. *spits into mike* This thing working? Good, we're back online. Hey there, sorry 'bout the visual downtime. We had a few technical problems with our handy audio/visual department thanks to that no good robotic monster. Good riddance ... Oh yeah, we took him down during the downtime. I know, I know. Pretty anti-climactic, but, you know how it goes, sometimes you just gotta do stuff you want to put off 'til later. You did miss the Announcer whoop it up thou--

Announcer: And thank you for the briefing, Teddylot. Well, surprisingly enough, Grey comes in with his third correct answer of the second season. He has become one of the new season's favorites to do especially well despite his poor start. If continues at his slow, yet steady pace, he just might be a force to be reckoned with later in the game.

Question 82:

In the course of constructing a pyramid, a large stone cube was being transported across the desert on logs. All of the logs were two meters in circumference. How far did the stone cube move in relation to the ground with each complete revolution of the logs?

Teddylot: Man ... I miss the elevator music ... And that British guy, too. He was cool. Too bad he's gone. Now you guys have to actually read the question. Yeesh, you youngun's have it so easy.

Hmm... each time the logs rolled, they would move forward 2 meters.. plus, the cube would move forward two meters on the logs, so that makes a grand total of 4 meters per revolution.

Two meters. The cube is staying at the same relative location to the logs (that is to say, on top of them), and the logs travel two meters along the ground with each revolution.

Question 83:

Pete Polyester is a used car salesman. He sold half his cars plus one more to his first customer of the day. To the second customer, he sold half of the remainder plus one more. To the third customer, he sold half the remainder plus one more; and to the fourth customer, he sold half the remainder plus one more. Pete was now the proud salesman on an empty car lot.
