Do you ever get the lingering feeling of death? Perhaps a sinister laugh in the back of your head you just can't shake? Or is it just me?

I slept on the living room couch for months at a time because I'd wake up in the middle of the night, breathless, terrified of some invisible force enveloping my bed like a thick cloud. As soon as I sprinted up the stairs into the dining room, I'd feel normal again. I swear to God there are demons inhabiting this room.

No, I can't say that I have.

The closest I have ever come, however, is when I have a fever, I tend to not sleep well, and sometimes hallucinate.

For a period of time I couldn't sleep alone... I was afraid of being... hunted.

Luckily I stopped with that since long time ago.

I don't generally sleep during the day, but when I do, I get a little off. I sometimes wake from a nap of this sort completely discombobulated and unhinged.

Once, I completley freaked out. Thought I was a god, or something, and didn't understand how to use my body properly. I don't remember much about that time, except that I broke a vase.

I generally don't feel that... although ONCE or TWICE I might have been scared someone broke into our house (no alarm system) and I didn't know, and they were waiting for me near the kitchen... But I have gotten over that idea I think.

Oh, I get that all the time. Not much of what KKC mentioned, although I used to sometimes run very quickly away from my basement as I went up the stairs to go to bed. More of a mental game I played with myself, pretending the deep, dark basement was out to get me.

I don't get really weird effects, but when you're alone in the dark of night, everything is 10x scarier. I do tend to get spooked by sounds and shadows, especially if I've been reading scary stories before bed. What's really scary though is when I fall asleep on my arm. My laying on it cuts off the blood flow, so it's paralyzed. I always roll over so it's on top of me, then wake up. Since I just woke up I can't think straight, all I know is my arm's gone (can't feel it) and there's something big and heavy on top of me. I never manage to open my eyes until I wake up enough to realize what's going on, and proceed to shake it until it works again. Good for a scare though.

I don't exactly do that, but I am slightly obsessive about the doors being locked, and I don't like to be in the kitchen at night (too many sharp pointy objects). Also, I have a sliding glass door going out of my room... kinda freaky late at night, and when big storms hit, it's like it lightnings in the room with you.

I always feel more serene when it's late at night. Have you ever been outside when it's a clear sky, and the moon is full?

It's fucking cool.

If I'm afraid of... moving, I just think of dragons, and it makes me feel better, and braver. I'm almost completely over my fear of the dark because of that.

Except I still refuse to go into the basement at night.

Yeah, I love going outside at night. Sometimes just to notice the glow of the moon. It give me this weird mystical feeling, like I could do anything. Sometimes I get this dragon-ish influence thingy and that just enhances the coolness. Not only that, but it makes me almost fearless of everything. Power of the dragon?

I really like dragons...

Tell me about it. My eyesight (long distance) is really fucked, like anything 1 metre (3 feet?) away is blurry. I got my contact lenses (I only wear glasses at school) and went outside, and I just looked at the sky in awe.

Anywho, the night is scary. And I don't like being alone Every little sound is freaky.. After I watched the movie, They, I couldn't go in the dark for a week

When I was a kid, I was so afraid of being abducted by aliens...

I made lots of weapons, and slept with them under my pillow. For example, I'd make nasty rubber band launchers...Where the rubber band had sharpened chunks of copper attached to it.

I was really, really scared of aliens.

I've had that weird sense of dread quite often.

But it's usually just gas

I don't really believe in a particular "feeling of death" that lingers around me in the dark. It's a subconscious thought that darkness means dread. It's all in your mind, I think.

As for aliens, ever notice how everyone who claims to have been abducted has been drinking beer and was anally probed? Isn't that a bit weird?

Bleh, that happens to me, too, especially when I'm sick. Really creepy.

I used to be able to do this all the time as a kid without problems, but if I fall asleep with a light on now, I tend to wake up a couple hours later with some kind of weird "amnesia"...I won't remember any dreams, or anything that happened before I fell asleep, and it'll feel like I suddenly "popped into existence." I remember a couple of specific times this happened, and even now, I don't remember what I was doing the night before. They're just isolated memories...

This has nothing to do with monsters but I always thought it has to do with your bed anbd I think it's cool.

First, lay in bed, and close your eyes (It helps if it's at night so there is no light at all, close the door if you want). Lay on your back with your arms at your sides, not like a soldier, just don't have your arms on your chest or anything. Now relax, think about a roller coaster. Picture your bed as being on a roller coaster. Now imagine your bed swaying left and right ever so slightly going around the first corners. Just a little at first, not try and imagine the feeling that you would experience in your stomach and on your body. Now try and imagine the feeling of those little rabbit hills on a roller coaster that give you feeling of lifting out of your seat, but not weightless. Add some wierd things in there like going through a loop-de-loop. You know being slightly pressed against the mattress at first, and then that very brief moment of weightlessness, then back down the other side of the loop pressing you into the bed again. I used to do this all the time as a kid and I still do from time to time. I always thought it was a lot of fun. It got to the point where it's almost a self hypnosis in terms of the physical feelings I imagine. I love it.

What? Ok, stop looking at me like that..... I'm not weird, I'm not weird......

You know, after a long day at Cedar Point, I would go to bed and feel like I was on a roller coaster without thinking of anything. That was cool.

I used to watch America's Most Wanted on Saturday nights and I would go to bed scared that I would be kidnapped from my window or something . When I would sleep in the living room, I'd here noises and get scared that someone was going to break in and kill us all. Weird

I've done that imaginary roller coaster trick in the past to help me fall asleep. You can also pretend your mattress is a raft, and you're floating down a gentle stream.

Man, that would be the coolest invention ever...a bed that gently rocks back and forth along with different recorded sounds (like a roller coaster or stream). I could fall asleep so easily on something like that...
