Today, I come home, and tell my mom, that my grade in english is an A+, and how I scored 100's on both a history and a spanish quiz.

I go outside for 3 hours, playing with my friend Chuck, while babysitting across the street.
My brother, Chuck, myself, and the 2 kids I was sitting played home run derby.

After all that is done, I come home, eat, and sit in front of my computer for 2 hours tops.
But all of a sudden, my mom just walks in and tells me I'm done, and how I need to come downstairs.

From what I understand, I need to talk with my family more, but the only thing is, we didn't at all. This happened last night too.
I just come down, and watch the Red Sox play. After a little while, I goto take a shower, then just stay up when I'm done.

I don't know why my mom is doing this. I'm a good kid, I don't have a problem with my family at all, but I think it would be better if she just let me do as I please in terms of being social.

She's just worried about you. Have you heared some of the horror stories of teens being on computers so much that they got completely alienated from their family?
I don't know where anyone got such stories, but sadly, parents tend to believe whatever justifies them to change your life into what they want.
If you can, try to be on the comp when she isn't around. Or just tell her honestly you don't get why she insists on you boring your ass off with your family watching tv instead of talking to one another, as she claimed you would.
Or just explain her what you do on the comp. My mother assumed whatever anyone did on the comp, was automatically infesting it with virusses.
But she was the one opening every attachment she got through mail, even if she didn't know where it came from.

Now all of a sudden, I need to be out of the house more...

I don't know where that came from, but it's "why don't you do this? Why don't you do that?" type thing.

So, what do I suggest? Why don't I go see Troy?

-No, rated R.

Why don't I go see Reel Big Fish, Catch 22, and Rx Bandits on the 20th?

-Apprehension

Why don't I goto a party?

-Who's going to be there? I don't want you to be there if person X, Y, and Z are there...

I mean, wtf am I supposed to do if what I want to do is unacceptable all of a sudden?

That is weird, it doesn't really sound like your parents have a reason to be worried about you...

I mean, I'm only passing 1 course this year.

My parents have done the same sort of thing with me so I kind of have an idea what you must be thinking.
All I can suggest is to make a compromise with your parents, where both are satisfied with the way things are. You may have to give up some of your time on the computer to spend with family or go outside and do stuff.
As with your parents disagreeing with everything you want to do I guess you could just do some of those things you were suggesting if your parents dismiss everything you suggest. Im not really sure what's going on there.
Hope that helps.

I think that they are crazy. My mom used to say I play to much video games, but I only played like 2 hours a day and spent about 3 with my friends outside. I think your problem is that your parents want you to be someone your not.

Well you could say that, your mothers worries about you becouse she loves you, most mothers care for there children. It looks like she is trying to get you where she can get to know you better (talking to you).

Yeah, parents really worry about their kids if their kids are doing too much of what they think the child has gotten too attatched to. Parents just get too worried about us. When I was on the net for awhile my mom would tell me to get off and come do things with her and my sister. They're just worried but they need to learn how to let you do what you want. They never told me to go out and do more though. My dad would always tell me to look at news stories where some kid would go meet someone that they met on the net and that person would be some 50 yr old perv. I dont know why he did that though.

*sigh*

I just got a 20 minute lecture on how I am not sitting in front of my computer this summer.

I can't stand it anymore. I just was forced to volunteer at the library, take some stupid ass class at Sysco Systems, and some other stupid thing.

I hate it. All my parents do is blab about how I'm not going to sit in front of my computer.

Then they name my friends (TheKram, and a non poster), and how "Oh I'm sure they don't sit in front of the computer"

I inform them that they're worse then me, but of course they don't care.

I can't stand it any more

you could just move out or something.
wait.
you're still a minor.
hmmm. oh well, look at the bright side of things, when you turn 18, you can just move out and do as you please. though that might turn out more differently than you'd expect.

It's not like I hate my parents, but they "look out for the best of me" way too often. Like now for example, is a great time to let me enjoy my coming vacation as is.

But noooooooooooooo, I need to do stupid stuff that no one else is doing.

Been there, done that.... I understand how difficult parents can be at times, trust me.
My suggestion would be to find something they'd approve of you doing, and find a reason that you need the computer for it... it worked for me a couple times, lol.

You could try introducing your parents to the computer world. Maybe get them to play some games or do work or even get them chatting.
Your parents could also just be looking out for you, maybe they don't know that you enjoy being on the computer, or like take up a sport that should please them. When me parents started to think for me and try and get me into things that they thought would be good for me eg. youth groups, soical events, sports, I just showed them one day what i do on the computer and why i am on here, they soon understood and we worked out family plans and my leasure plans.
As for your school work, you must be pritty smart, i would flip over the moon if i got an A+ on spanish

Parents suck. You should try to explain to them that you're not into doing what they want you to do. You should have a say in what you want to do. Tell them how you feel and that you need a break this summer to do whatever you please. You're growing up too so they should see that you want some freedom.

Parents to claim to do the "right thing" really never do. I mean, overprotection people really suck. Instead of being good for someone it's bad.
