| Before I say anything, and before anyone asks, I'm using a school comp. Now then, I found a helpful guide and module for Red Hat Fedora, my comp's new OS (yes it has been done!), so I could dial onto the internet with my current winmodem. The module is installed (via RPM) and it works great. It can dial my crappy modem! =D I also got a guide from Google searching for PPP in Linux. But, I've hit a roadblock! JunoWeb, my ISP, isn't cooperating with me! I'm having authorization probs, it seems. They use PAP, and require no authentication. Yet they won't let me connect... does anyone have a terminal command that is known to work with dialing into JunoWeb? I have a (real) username and password for their $9.95/month subscription. It's either this, or changing ISPs, yet my dad is a tad reluctant about it... any and all help is welcomed! |

| If JunoWeb uses proprietary software for verification.. you're screwed unless you can get the software working via wine. I know for a LONG time people couldn't use AOL / Linux for a *long* time.. Luckily I've had DSL ever since I began using Linux and have had no such problems. But you are in luck.. "United Online is planning to support Linux. United Online is the parent firm for such well-known ISPs as Juno, Netzero, and Blue Light." So who the fuck knows.. I did a 2 second search on google and found atleast that.. RTFM (google.com) |

| They do support Linux... but ONLY ONE distro: Lindows. And from what I heard from many members reaction, Lindows is to be avoided at all costs. Besides, in order to get the Lindows version of their software, you need to cancel your current account and re-sign up for Juno 6. Sounds stupid? Yes. I think switching ISPs will be a smart move now. ![]() |

you could...use windows to get the true usernme and password juno's software uses to authenticate yourself. however, as of february, they catch you after 10 hours. I enjoyed about 18+ months of free internet because of the dial-up exploit I had. I can't figure out how they get some information to block me after 10 hours ![]() |

| no...the exploit still works to a certain extent...as long as you are content of using the internet no more than 10 hours/month, then you have free internet from now until juno forces you to use their software | |||
