True Cable is slightly faster than DSL, but when your paying 20$ less for something almost as good as cable, I'd go with that. |

| Cable is pretty fast almost all the time, but there are these rare occasions when it's slow. It all depends on how much people are using the service at the same time as you. I've had Cable for a few years, and I've had almost no problems with it. It's a little expensive though when you have three computers connected to it, and the extreme high speed service. | maybe you should consider different hardware? i dunno, my cousins have a dialup account and they can connect at 48.8kbps on their computer. If I use the exact same account on my computer, i get only 41.2kbps. If I move my computer to where they are plugging in to the phone line, i still get 41.2. Then i put their modem in my computer--and I was able to connect at 48.8... therefore, it might be a hardware thing |

| I know how ya feel man. I've had a crappy creation forever, I've always had dialup, nothing else. I'd say just get a different ISP, or move to DSL. That's what I've been wanting to do, but DSL is too expensive. | |||

| 1. Get anything better than 56k 2. Fin Your connect will almost never run at it's full capacity. If you get a 56k, unless whatever you're trying to connect to is right next to your house, you can usually expect somewhere around a 40k connect. Same applies to 28k, cable, T3, and just about every other connection. |

| Got my first broadband for like 13 months ago. Radio base... was always down between 2:30-8:00 PM for some reason. Later I got ADSL which was more faster and had higher ping times. Modem isn't bad, it's when you pay per minute when it's bad.  Try Firefox it can make the surfing faster on slower connections. (and on fast too actually ) |

So, without cable TV, no cable modems. Its a little different in Switzerland, where Cable TV is a given, a default. (Costs CHF 300.- each House and about 35 - 30.- each houshold) |
