I don't think it's fair that people think just because there is more money that stuff should cost more. Like for instance my dad said that when he was younger he could get a soda and a candy bar, kingsize now, for just fifty cents. What do you think?

Um, well... if you there's more money, stuff HAS to cost more. Because money would be worth less then. If something is worth 5 dollars before, and now there's 5 times as much money, you have to make it worth 25 dollars, right? If you don't, then it would be the equivalent to giving that person the same thing for one dollar at the time it was worth five.

But fifty cent was more worth back then Kurama.

It's that how inflation works. People get more money all the time, and the money get's less worth all the time.

that's the point.... it didn't cost that much but now it does....

and it makes perfect sense really

if you have 10 $1 bills printed up to represent all the money in the world.....

then the next month there are 100 $1 bills, then it makes sense for stuff to cost Ten times as much....

inflation is also affected by other factors than just the amount of money in circulation...

You have to understand that when your dad was younger he was making maybe 2 dollar per hour.

And don't forget me! I was here in spirit.

But does anyone remember that old episode of Duck Tales where every time someone rung a bell, the amount of currency in the world would double? And Huey Lewey and Dewey were trying to buy gumballs but they were like, one million dollars each?

Good episode that teaches about inflation.

I liked the episode where they made their uncle think it was a day later than it was, and that caused a chain reaction over pretty much the entire world, lol.
And all for a scooter, if I remember right? lol

lol it doesn't really teach about inflation because it's inpractical....

actual inflation amounts to about half a percent a year..... not double every time a bell rings...

True, so true ErkDog. I thought it talked about inflation but I'm also not that smart.

Why don't they make cartoons like Ducktales nowdays? It rocked back then...

And for some reason I feel like watching some of them, screw if they are kiddy. I want memories.

Now that we essentially have established what inflation is, I'll answer the question that the topic title presents:

Inflation is bad. Why? Because our money becomes worth less with inflation.

Well, that's contributory to the problem, but it's not the ENTIRE problem with inflation.
The problem with inflation is when people get raises, are excited about their "extra" money, and then find out that the "extra" money is just (barely, if at all) covering the increase in prices. This then causes other problems....
