I watched junior Eurovision. Quite amusing for me, being the first time I've actually seen any kind of European Song Contest (It's on SBS - no one watches SBS, unless they want late night foreign porn films. Which is why I dont watch it XD) but anyway, funnny!! Since it was in different languages and yeah hehe.. I was gonna watch Eurovision, the actuaal contest, but i dunno when it is on.. =\

Rin - I remember that! All the kids sang out of tune... mind you I LOVED the Brit entry as it was an anti War song

Isn't it the 15th with the "qualifying" competition on Friday? (Well, if anyone gets nil points in that then they're truly the worst of the bunch. ) |

I don't think Eurovision Song Contest is aired in the US, Slash Dafter. It is, after all, a European competition, so I doubt the Americans have any reason to watch it (though they show it in Australia, apparantly ). Of course, if you get any European Channels, here is a list of members of the European Broadcasting Union. Not all of them show Eurovision, but most should, I guess.

It's the other way around to, they rarely show big events from USA here. I probably will not get around seeing Eurovision. But I bet that I will hear the winning song... alot. like usual... |

Ok, how in the world could Andorra not go to the finals, but that hideous Austrian song could? Argh, the European audience simply has no taste..

Didn't Austria do great last year with their "entry"? The rankings (top 10 countries ranked in random order so that the results aren't influenced tomorrow) are as follows. Qualified for Eurovision Final: 1. Serbia & Montenegro 2. Malta 3. Netherlands 4. Albania 5. Ukraine 6. Croatia 7. Bosnia-Herzegovina 8. FYR Macedonia 9. Greece 10. Cyprus Failed to Qualify: 11. Israel - 57 12. Estonia - 57 13. Denmark - 56 14. Finland - 51 15. Portugal - 38 16. Lithuania - 26 17. Latvia - 23 18. Andorra - 12 19. Belarus - 10 20. Monaco - 10 21. Slovenia - 5 22. Switzerland - Nil points! |

Estonia and Latvia were ROBBED! They were ten times better than crap like the Netherlands and Greece's entries. The guy was DRUMMING WITH HIS FISTS AND HIS HEAD, for Christs' sake. And the Latvian "Na naa naa naa" thing was the catchiest thing ever. Oh well. At least Albania and the Ukraine made it. *Cackles Evily* Dawny and I are throwing a Eurovision Party, we're buying in some Pizza, some coke and using BBCi (Interactive voting, all the lyrics translated and a lot of other cool stuff) forr this night of pure cheese As well as that guess who owns the Eurovision 2004 ALBUM! It has all the entries on it, it's a double CD, so if you ask me REALLY nicely, and catch me on AIM I may be able to provide you with an MP3 of the entry of your choice. How the hell did Switzerland get Nul points? Yes it's inane but it's as catchy as hell! Our entry is pretty cool, but my fave would be Ukrane's entry, it's pretty funky. Oh and Greece is the fave according to all the bookmakers over here. The UK are 50-1 to win, god they must hate the song, it's not bad, but there are more catchy ones. |

The results! (Note: I believe the tiebreak is most votes by country - if one country earned points from 15 countries and another one from only 10, the one with 15 gets the higher placing. Numbers in brackets - number of first place votes.) 1. Ukraine - 280 (8) 2. Serbia & Montenegro - 263 (7) 3. Greece - 252 (5) 4. Turkey - 195 (4) 5. Cyprus - 170 (1) 6. Sweden - 170 (4) 7. Albania - 106 (1) 8. Germany - 93 (1) 9. Bosnia-Herzegovina - 91 10. Spain - 87 (2) 11. Russia - 67 (1) 12. Malta - 50 13. Croatia - 50 14. FYR Macedonia - 47 (1) 15. France - 40 (1) 16. United Kingdom - 29 17. Poland - 27 18. Romania - 18 19. Iceland - 16 20. Netherlands - 11 21. Austria - 9 22. Belgium - 7 23. Ireland - 7 24. Norway - 3 If the current format stays the same, the following countries have automatically qualified for Eurovision 2005 in Kiev (?): France, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom (4 largest countries), Ukraine (hosts), Serbia & Montenegro, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Sweden, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Russia, Malta (9 top-scoring countries aside from those previously listed); the remaining countries must qualify through the Semi-Final. |

I know you guys are Russ, but where in the official Russ handbook does it say "You must get drunk every weekend without fail"? ...ANY Eurovision song would likely sound good when tipsy. Elmo: I assume you were watching the BBC, right? So... how was Terry Wogan? (Two years in a row I've followed the Eurovision PBP on the SI Games forums and they constantly praise him for his colorful comments. So he must be good. ) |

Well, it doesn't actually say in the Russ handbook, but it's pretty much a de facto law. Now, is it just me, or was this year filled with heaps more political voting than usual? One of the funniest moments were when the Andorran jury gave 12 points to Spain, and, with reference to the country's proximity to Spain, one of my friends said "give us 12 points or we'll invade your pathetic country". Other than that, the best song was Turkey yesterday. But as the vote progressed, I eventually got an "anybody, but Ukraine"-stance, because all my other friends were rooting for Ukraine a lot, and I didn't think the song was that good (it was ok, but nothing more), so it was me against them, and I lost, damnit... |
