Yes, it's time for another Eurovision Song Contest. All over the continent, people will be crowding in front of their TV's to witness this display of artistic brilliance and musical perfectness.
What's new this year? Well, because of the large amount of countries participating, the idiots over at EBU have decided to hold a Semi-Final round and a Final. Personally, I think the idea is shit. It takes some of the fun out of the Contest when they split it up like that. I'd rather see small countries like Andorra not in it (even though Andorra's song is quite good (as good as Eurovision-songs go anyway)), than to have the Contest split like this.
Anyway, you all watching this year? Any hopes for who will win? Heard all the songs yet? What traditions do you have when watching Eurovision? Who are you watching with?

(Oh, and by the way, a little Eurovision-trivia, which I think is cool since I'm Norwegian, the only country to have managed to receive "nul points" 4 times, is Norway. The most famous "nul points"-incident ever was also a Norwegian one, when Jahn Teigen was given more applause for getting "nul points" than the winner got for winning.

Meh, people who don't like the Eurovision Song Contest just simply haven't understood the charm of it. I hope that you will one day marry a Song Contest-lover, Max, so that you will have to be forced to watch it, and eventually love it, such as all other good people do.

I have been forced to watch it for the last 5 years. I still don't enjoy it even a little.

I usually listen on it, at the same time I am at the computer. And I like how they contact all the diffrent televisions over Europe. Some countries have intresting name on their channals. (DR for Denmark, NRK for Norway, SVT for Sweden. BBC for UK. I forgot finland and the rest... )

Sweden was holding it for one/two years ago. Anyone remember that?

It's class, especially as some of the entries are barking mad

Hmm... don't Romania have that really catchy "Mai-ah-hi" song entered? oh and the Brit one is alright too...

But that song was so bad, honestly.

That was all I remember from last year. But I don't remember the song, only that it sucked.

You mean to say you don't remember t.A.T.u., Kitten Yiffer?

Romania's song is called "I Admit", Elmo.

Now, Belarus, that's a freaky nation. Their song is "My Galileo", yet in the music video, they show sequences with Crusaders and Knights fighting. What the heck does Galileo have to do with the Crusades?

I think I'll defend Jemini, the song was sound, just that their singing was crappy.

Oh and Tatu's song was very boring.

Hey, hey...Let's not hate on those whacky Slavs...That's where my family originates

Since I live across the 'pond' as the evil British tend to say...Is the Ukraine competing, and if so, info on the song would be mega-groovey.

Ukraine's entering for the first time ever, I believe. Their song is like a mix of what seems like Ukranian folk tunes and rock. I think the song is one of the better Eurovision songs this year, although it doesn't beat Andorra, which will be my favorite. Still, a good contribution from the Ukranians this year, indeed.

Ziff, if your lucky they maybe win. Or at least will get highly ranked.

I hope that the Swedish song is a good one this year. Back then ABBA really owned Eurovision.
