Alright, I guess I'll speak up now. It's pretty bad when the owner can't come to his own board because he doesn't think the board is "enjoyable" anymore. I mean, he's the owner!! Ace has every right to enforce his rules, his policies, and whatever else that he wants to implement. I guess he feels that people have taken his board away from him -- and he's afraid of what will happen if he tries to "take it back."  |

Holy shit Hiryuu, that was like...one of the greatest posts ever.  (referring to your lonnnng one)I have plenty of bitching to do myself but it's personal bitching about my own wants/gripes/blahblahblah so I'll just not even discuss it. Not really an important issue at this time anyway. "Pff...Ace's doomed themselves after the dumbass IRC thing that happened in August of last year..." Oh hell yeah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes this. The end of Emunet started this whole explosive train into the boards shitdom. I miss people. I miss Foom, witeasprinwow, Doomgaze, Sarevok, Emptyeye, etc... Sure the good ol' people may show up every now and then but they obviously don't like it here anymore/lost interest. Hell, with the average quality of users these days I even miss Skydude. And I don't even like him! But at least he was a good poster. We're lucky to still have some classics great users here. For some reason or another, they've managed to endure the board at it's worst.  Acmlm, you can't just sit here and let this board be taken over. I asked why ErkDog was an admin the other day. (I just asked, I didn't mention ANY feelings on it...) And he jumped on me with a "Why do you care"? and all that garbage. Then I get this "He's hosting, he has every right to be." Regardless of whether or not you, the reader, think it's true or not, it just doesn't sit right with me. It may be hosted by him (and for free too) but it's not HIS board. Hell, if you want to move to another server, I'll pay for it myself and ask for NOTHING in return. I'm sure I'm not the only one willing to do this either. #acmlm never was quite the same after we switched to forgetit. And it never really will be either. Sure it's amusing and all, but it's not the #acmlm most of us grew to know and love. Do we really want that to happen here? Actually, it's already like that I think. But it's not too late to change. I'm not going to go and make any personal attacks against Erkdog here nor try to point out everything that I think he does wrong. If you're as concerned with this situation as I am, then you probably already know what I'm talking about and either agree or disagree with it. The banner may say it's Acmlm's board, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it. I've been here for little over three years now, and yes, this is probably the worst it's ever been. At least back in the day, when we went through problems, it still felt like home. (For lack of a better word.) On closing, I'd like to say/acknowledge that my opinion holds no real weight on this board when it all comes down to it. I'm just a regular user who pays not a damn cent to use it. But I like to discuss, so thats why I do it. Booyaka. And Phil, you still owe me a sim-battle for control of the "I mean... look at the title of the board. Not so much the slogan, but the first two words on the top. I'd like to see it remain like that, and I'd hope that you would as well." Mine actually says Dani's Board but I know what you mean.  Hmm...and by the way, if I ever called you a bad user/staff before, just know that when I said it, I really had no concept of what I was calling you at the time. See, that's the thing. Certain people think they have a right to be on high staff just because they allowed free usage of their webspace. Something told me when I read the choices of what would happen to the board when it got restarted that we were going to be "owned" by Fiftypounds, so to speak. Yes, the board is much faster and the pages load better, but maybe the board would have been better off at overclocked? I don't know. Maybe. But once thing is definitely for sure, there have been more staff changes over the last 2 months then there have been over the entire duration of my stay here at Acmlm's. I'll leave that last statement open for interpretation.  I don't usually get into things like this because I'm pretty much a go-with-the-flow kind of person, but I'd hate to see this board go down again. |

| Legion, I must say I think that was one of the best posts I've seen you make. And that's not a snide sideways dig at you or anything, I promise. ^-^ I mean it. I've disagreed with you about the Kario thing, but I agree with you on this, definitely. I'm never that knowledgable about the board's running behind the scenes, I tend to just sit back and watch from the outside and occasionally offer my opinion on things. Even if I talk crap sometimes... Try my best not to, anyway. I just try and piece things together... So, Erkdog is a admin because he's hosting the board? I was wondering what the reason was... Interesting... Anyway, Hiryuu's right, the image is going to do nothing and the whole 'protest' thing is meaningless. It just turns people against other people and causes yet more rifts in the board. However, what Acmlm said is still jarring. Even though I've actually known this for a little while. Just haven't seen him said it in so many words. I like Acmlm and I always feel like the board has a much nicer atmosphere when Acmlm is around and keeping an eye on things, even if he doesn't post a massive deal. Maybe Acmlm just doesn't want the responsibility anymore, but it's still depressing to see that he dislikes the board so much at the moment that he doesn't want to be around. Anyway, I'm just posting somewhat randomly, I hope I didn't end up saying anything dumb. It's late. >.< Lurking-ho!! |

| Well, you're right about this, Legion. This board certainly isn't doing well. I just have belief that some of the people just don't care about how this board is going. From my standpoint, I barely have been posting around here, and it's because that things just don't have that sparkle like that used to... I remember that June of last year was a really good time, and I was so very glad to have joined the board, but now... things are sketchy and the chair balancing on the cliff is now swaying just a bit. I was quite shocked when I saw that Erkdog was an admin, and I was just wondering if it was temporary considering there was a spammer attack going on at the time, but after checking, I guess that it happened. Really though, things probably are going to go like it is as of now. It's just a little depressing... |

Well, who says I didn't agree with what most Legion said about the board.  It retains a lot of thought, I must say. Basically, the reason I didn't bother to speak out was because I knew somebody was going to come by and shoot it down...Though Acmlm, I suggest that you should start making moves if you have to. Don't let people go controlling YOUR board, the thing that you have worked on so hard to keep alive for all this time. I believe that if it can survive things like the board wipe recently and other unfortunate breaks, then I'm sure you can keep it going. You got all these types of boards out there, and while some may be good and some may be lacking, this is the mother and father of them all. |

| I'll say this: I agree with the idea of demoting ALL staff, and starting all over again. Acmlm is the only one who will NOT get demoted, and he is the ONLY one who will make the final decisions as to who the staff is. I can think of one person who doesn't deserve to be staff, but is anyway. Kinda seems like it was done as a reward... And if Acmlm wants to move the board again, I could talk to Ganon. He might host it for free... Can't hurt to ask. *shrugs* As for the actual content of the board, I'm not really bothered by it. There are only about 5 different areas that I visit, becuase those are the only ones that interest me. But I do this on every board I visit. Even my own. |

| Milly's read this thread, as when I was OL yesterday he wasnhere with Jizzy, and when I checked out OL users they were both looking at this thread. If you're here again mate, please speak up, a lot of people respect you and they look at you for guidance, perhaps some words and then some actions would allay the fears some people have, you're not going to be alone in this. The only thing I'd tend to disagree with is Milly choosing his own staff and the only reason behind that is. from the perspective of a "normal" user like myself, he doesn't seem to socialise with us much, if this place needs new blood, then I'm not sure if he know people well enough to choose a staff team with some new blood in it. |

| Reading this thread.. I'm reminded of other boards I went to. They become popular, everyone bitches about the quality going down, and eventually everyone leaves, or it's gone to a place so far it'll never be the same. With more staff being applied, people trying to keep this board orderly, working on Acmlm 2.0 (is this happening? I dunno), it seems like this place is becoming more of a business. I know it's not actually a business, don't tell me, I'm just saying the feel of it. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd rather have this place the way it was, major lienency of who was banned and shit (look at my old posts. hahahaha).. I think the board being too relaxed is much better than too strict. It seems to be going stricter.. I think that's the problem. I realize I bitch about users. I do it in IRC. If you know me at all, I bitch about everything. I always do. I did it before it became "hip" and everyone and their grandmother did it. :B Seriously, if all the lamers that were banned recently were never banned, I actually wouldn't care. Would you guys actually care? Acmlm said he felt like Kario shouldn't be perma-banned for making that thread. Everyone attacked him, and it was kinda funny, but looking back Acmlm's right. Some admins (not attacking anyone directly) had said Acmlm should tell them what to do.. then they said Acmlm should unban himself. I like Xk's idea, of shutting down the board for two days and all that. If Acmlm would carry that out, just be drastic without asking for approval or anything, and just overlook it.. yeah. I really want to know what Acmlm himself thinks of this whole issue. That's what matters the most. |
