I meant astrological. Supposedly, astrology is based on the positions of the planets, moon, stars, sun, etc. Since the tenth planet was not taken into consideration, all predictions have been wrong.

I think they definitely should consider adding it as the "10th planet". I think it'd be really cool.

However, the thing is apparently 3/4 the size of Pluto and twice as far away (which is pretty effing far)

That's no planet.....

ITS A SPACE STATION!

and in that litle mnemonic device thingie for the planets, it will obviously go on the end and be, Scalawag.

But seriously, a new planet in our solar system, which is awesome.

Gaia was a hypothesis by a James Lovelock about the interconnectedness of all things on Earth and something about a planetary consciousness thingy... Or at least a way the world has for adapting to changes seemingly as one. At least that's what I've gathered from the SimEarth strategy guide I have for some reason.

Sedna... I was thinking it was like the opposite of Andes or something. Still... Cool that there's another planet. Perhaps this'll turn out better than Quaoar did.

Edit: The post by (Apophis?) mentioning naming planets like Stargate was talking about the naming system of things like P3X-189 or things like that.

ugh.... I really don't think it deserves to be a planet.... Pluto isn't really a planet and shouldn't be called one either.... but, that's a different debate....

I dunno, I think it's orbit is too irregular... and it's really not very big.... I say leave it (and pluto even) as planetoids, not planets....

as for it's discoery.... kinda flukey.... and, not overly interesting.... it's no surprise that there is stuff out past pluto, and there was bound to be something big orbiting the Sun out there.... so yeah....

So if this is the 10th planet.. what the hell is "Quaoar" or whatever? From what the description of it was written at the site.. it seems to me not to bother calling it a planet.. sounds more like a hunk o' rock, but if its got an orbital pattern around the sun, then yeah i'll say it's a planet.. though we have to wait like.. 10 thousand years to really find out dont we? or to be sure moreso..

No that's Simearth, Gaia is somewhat more helpful in the SNES version.

But they do have some things in common thoose two games, I have tested both.

it's Gaea (pronounced "jee-ah") in Greek mythology. she's one of the higher-ups in the god/goddess hierarchy (at the top, I believe, with Chaos ("kah-os")).

back on topic: this Quaron (or w/e) is bigger than Sedna... why isn't it being considered a candidate planet?

and just where is the line drawn between "planet" and "planetoid" or w/e? without one, one might say that there are hundreds or thousands of planets in our system... most of which are in the asteroid belt.

Well now it's Planet Sedna.

I can believe this to be a planet, actually. If you look closely, starting from Jupiter, the planet's sizes get smaller and smaller. Sedna is so small that, if it were any larger, the Sun's gravitational pull would not catch it.

This is cool. I say we send a probe after it and land on it before Mars.

Actually, isnt Neptune slightly larger than Uranus?

The mass could have something to do with it.

I would consider it a planet it has the charateristics its not like its a brown dwarf or something , lately ive been reading more and more about our universe and I find it to be the most interesting thing in the world. Dont you ever wonder how everything came to be and just how insignificant we are. I really cant wait till we can see into the dark ages of the solar system. I think its awesome how that light from the other side of the universe takes 14 billion years to reach us and we see what was going on 14 billion years ago, so essentially we are watching the past.

This discovery can afftect us , it shows us that the milky way may yet contain more unknown planets and things to discover I mean really we know so much about earth but so little about the rest of the universe. Also strangely it seems all the smaller planets are in our galaxie at the Nasa site they say they found a planet 13x the size of Jupiter out of our galaxy(I forget the technical term).
