This is kinda odd. You see, there was this playstructure at the kindergarten I went to... And, part of it was around a story high. They had this "no jumping off structures taller than you are" rule, but, of course, we all ignored it. So anyway, we took turns jumping off this story-high structure, right? None of us got hurt, because it was a fall onto relatively soft barkdust and at that age we were still developing and bones were flexible, not that hard. Just the same, suddenly, I felt like I had been pushed. I stumbled forward, almost to the edge of the area we were jumping from, and then stepped back, not wanting to fall off when I wasn't ready. I stepped back wrong, and fell off the side... Landed face-up with my arm under me, and my spine hit my arm, breaking the fragile bone. It was a traumatic event to be sure, and I think about it every once in awhile (I remember it so well despite my age at the time because it was so traumatic... Still, I question why I remember an event from almost eleven years ago...), and now seems to be one of those times, and I just can't get it out of my head. I also get the wierdest feeling that if my arm hadn't been in the way it would've broken my back... As a result, I'm terribly afraid of heights... This was only reinforced when several years later I sprained my ankle landing wrong from a jump off of a tree when I was recovering from said fear... Anyway, I just wanted to tell someone about it because that typically makes you feel better, and, this seemed like the best place to do so.

Well, it is important that you face fears, but don''t do it. The worst possible thing you can do is go to a huge gap and try to jump off despite every impulse you have telling you to get back down. Start small, and try climbing up to the firsst few branches on trees and stuff, and then go higher and higher once you are ready to until you can get to the top without being terrified. Gradually breaking the fear is much more effective than trying to do it all at once. Just remember, Bravery is not the absence of fear, but the ability to overcome the fear that already exists.

Huh? It was ten-ish years ago. I'm pretty over it now, I was just saying that I kept thinking about it...

Even though you're pretty much over it now, that fear was probably a good thing. It makes sure you're not in a high place to fall off of again.

I'm shit scared of getting on a bicycle after my accident two years ago:

I was riding along, at about 10-15 mph, not that fast, and I was stood up, to get some speed going. My chain came off, and i shot forwards over the handlebar, landed headfirst on the tarmac, had a helmet on, but it was my forehead. It fractured my skull slightly

I'm still missing two days of my life in terms of memory loss, and have a cool ass scar just below my hairline. Can't ride a bike tho. Won't go near one!

Wha? That wasn't what you had a problem with? But I... I thought...

... Well, I guess you should just stay away from high places.

I cant stand heights for some reason either. Its weird, but I get scared when high up.... not like OMG scared, just.... "okay, lets get away from this situation" scared. Same with public speaking.

Luckly, Ive never broken any of my bones in my life, so that is a plus.

I've never broken a bone either. I'm not scared of heights, though. It just doesn't really scare me, because I know I won't fall unless pushed. And nobody can push me fast enough for me nto to react and stop myself.. Usually...

Liquid Pi, yeah. I got in accidents all the time. Having a full set of pads usually help, but... Your CHAIN came off? *shudders* Man... Let me see if I can get this right... You hear a crack, and a jam. Your look down, your chain's not there. You panic and try to stop but that doesn't work because there's no chain there. In your panic, you press the brake on full. This stops the bike, but not you, and then you come out and land on the ground below head-first. You feel a horrible pain, then nothing, then suddenly you're in the hospital. Am I right?

No, he probably had all of his weight on one pedal when the chain came loose, removing all resistance and pitching him over. The same thing's happened to me, but luckily I only got scraped up knuckles (which are scarred- looks like I got in a fight) and knees.

Also, I've flipped my bike twice, sustaining no injuries each time.

NSNick is right, the chain came off whislt my right leg was on the downstroke, so that force had to go somewhere, unfortunately it sent me forewards, apparently!

All that info was taken from witness statements provided to me by the police! I don't remember about an hour before hand it.

I'm suprised nothing happened to me when I was riding my bike since I used to a looot when I was younger. Bikes are cool for now. I don't like climbing fences because the one time I did..I cut myself umm..on my back leg..on one of my cheeks I think maybe a little lower. I dont like jumping from high places, I'm always afriad of hurting myself. I was before that though . I think its from watching my cousin jump out of that jumper thing at my party and breaking his arm. OH yeah! I'm not scared of balls but..when I was running my foot when on the ball and I fell foward head first and scraped my forehead on the ground. That hurt..
