As far as I know, in Japan, Eggman never had the whole accident dealy. He was just always... Unexplained. If you follow the Adventure games, his name never changed... He was always (something) Robotnik, like his grandfather. His motives... Revenge, perhaps for his grandfather's death? (Poor Robotnik/Eggman... Getting caught up in all of these attempts to destroy the world, when all he wants is to rule it... Just look at Chaos, Shadow, and Gizoid, from Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Battle, respectively) |

Except that they still call Mega Man by the name of Rock (or so I recall from MM1, I think), and I think Bass is a cooler name than Forte. Goes along with Treble better. About Peach, in the beginning of Super Mario 64, she writes that letter and it says something like, "Signed, Princess Toadstool. -Peach" So, Peach is like...her nickname or real name. Princess Peach Toadstool. I think it makes perfect sense and it kicks ass, and so does Bowser, King of the Koopas, King Koopa, Bowser Koopa, whatever. |

Yes, yes, perfect. Peach Toadstool. Bowser...er...Koopa... In Japan, Bowser has always been Koopa. Peach has always been Peach. And Robotnik has always been Eggman. I guess they realized how dumb they were in changing their names. But Mega Man? Sorry, but Rockman just doesn't have the same tone to it, ya know? As far as Eggman goes, it was implied that Sonic picked on him about it, and so he decided to make it his nickname. His last name IS still Robotnik, it's just that he likes to call himself Eggman. I mean, honestly, Eggman sounds a lot more teasing, ya know? You have fallen to the hands of EGGMAN!! GWAHAHA!! Insert Robotnik, and it doesn't sound as taunting. |

The Kintobor or whatever stuff is something made up by the comics, so you can't apply them to the games. If I remember right, in Sonic Adventure his name is Ivo Robotnik, or just plain Robotnik, as people call him, but people like Sonic call him Eggman to get him mad. For some reason he picked up the name, possibly because it went well with his Egg name themed things like Eggmobile, and it was catchy for his Eggman Empire thing, though in SA he wanted to simply make Station Square into Robotnikland. |
