| Basically, the reason why so many suck is because LM is SO FRIGGIN EASY TO USE! Morons think they can make a super hack just because the editor lets them do pretty much anything. That satirical pic of LM with the "Do my hack for me" button isn't too far from the truth. People, the majority of you are rom EDITORS, not hackers. But there are a select few in the latter group that work on actually hacking SMW... but for the most part, since a person with an IQ of 50 can work with LM, everyone, including idiots, are making SMW hacks... thus, most of them suck... that's my take. |

tnx kefka  and i guess skiffles is exagerating, since we use a lot of programs to hack smw, like yy_chr, b tool, etc etc.. he should try smw hacking before doing his judgements of course that hacking smw is easier due to a editor that makes a lot of things, but i bet that the people that hack other games and have to use weaker editors and do most of the work in their own would love and want a editor as good as lm as to edit their games (edited by Aioria on 05-01-04 09:35 PM) |

| Ummm... you can use any editor for any game and make it good. Even if it is easy to use, you can make professional stuff, but the occasional idiot uses the editor to show he knows how to use it but not being good at it. Lunar Magic gives me visuals of what I am editing. I can't stare at HEX and see a level. I must have a visual. Then I can easily see a problem in the layout. |

I guess what Skiffles is trying to say is that an editor is good for brute force grunt work. The first editors were level editors, all they did was edit levels. And quite honestly, I wish it were still like that. We've had this discussion before, but I find a direct correlation between hacks that go above and beyond what the programs out there offer end up making excellent hacks. I for one prefer flexibility in a game editor over "power". And Skiff: excellent banner, glad to add it to my sig  |
