... is there a program that can basically find out what hardware you have? I've got a Hellwit Packard to the right and it's running W98 [god damned "Restore CD" doesn't work] ... and it's displaying in 640x480 with a pitiful 16 colors.

Since this has no internet connection [ovbiously] I'm hoping I can put the drivers on a disk, but oh no... it has no clue what the hardware is, or so it says.

Argh.

If you can still get into Windows 98, then you can right click on my computer, select properties, and go to the device manager tab--there you can find the names windows believes your hardware is called.

well...maybe name recognition gets better with later versions of windows? but that doesn't help you much now does it?

i guess if you don't want to deal with learning the names of your hardware, you could always install a later verision of windows...

Download Aida32 from Here It tells you all of your hardware and I think it provides links for the updated drivers to download.
