I'm afraid you're wrong, regarding Creationism being the bigger. In the USA, around 50% of the people believe in Creationism, yes, but that's only in the USA. If you go to Europe, only an extremely small minority of very devout Christians believe in Creationism, most have accepted Evolution.

Well, this is interesting. Europe is evolutionist, eh? Never would've thought about it. I wonder about regions such as Asia and the Middle East, where a great percentage of our population is concentrated. The only religion I can remember from school that had a good myth in that area is Hinduism. Went something like, Brahmans created the universe from a sea of milk. I dunno, weird. Please, continue the discussion.

Yep that is true SomerZ. There isn't so many religous people here either. And the ones who are, actually belive in Evolution to some extent. Originally posted by Valcion Amen. We should be more worried over the future than the past... |

Learning from our past can help us a long in the future. Plus, is no one interested in how we got here or how we came to be? I mean c'mon people, let's be curious and wonder about something. The past intrigues everyone, you cannot deny it, for it is human nature for man to wish to know from where he came.

Yes Cthulhu, you're probably very interested in that, considering your dad was a cow and your mother was a corner girl.

I hope that's sarcasm, becasue otherwise it's flaming. And besides, my mother was satan and my father was a goat. Now please, Skiffles, just post your opinion on the topic from now on.

Dinos existed, and just like that, creation is wrong.

He has a point. Doesn't the Creation say that humans were among the first here? If so, how does one explain dinosaurs?

Well, if I remember from reading Genesis as a child, it says God created the world in seven days. Humans were createed around this period, uh...Adam and Eve. That's right...I think. Yet the fossil record and carbon dating clearly says that dinosaurs were here long before any humanoid creatures. I dunno...maybe seven days to God are like millions of years to us.

The bible makes references to dinosaurs. And carbon dating? Heh, don't make me laugh. |

I'll have to read it again then. I think we have on around here somwhere. What's wrong with carbon dating? It has been proven to show reliable dates on fossils and such. |

That's not too bad when we are dealing with things millions of years old. A few thousand ain't gonna matter. A few million, now there's a problem. Legion, are you gonna post you opinion on this topic? |

As an atheist, I have no reason to believe that a deity created the universe. If I held this belief, though, I would certainly feel that evolution was the means that said deity used. Evolutionary theory is well-established as the currently accepted mechanism for the diversity of life on earth. It is supported by a vast body of evidence from several different fields of science. I would recommend that you visit the Talk.Origins archive and read through the articles there. They provide an excellent explanation of what evolutionary theory actually is (you may be surprised at how many strawman definitions are floating around) and the various data in its favor.

Interesting. I have to agree with the deity using evolution as a tool thing. But, go tell someone that, and see what expression you get. Trust me, I tried...

I'm still looking for Genesis, but if Legion would be so kind as to point this out to us, I could find it much easier. |
