Originally posted by BMF54123Once again I must say how STUPID our society is today. Sending ads for penis enlargement to women, larger breasts to men, and popups for anything from porn to porn blockers! The sad thing is that, despite the fact these companies are pissing off 90% of their potential clientel with spam, popups and the like, there must be at least a small percentage, even if it's only like 0.5%, that fall for this shit. If they didn't make money off of it, they'd stop it! Naturally, my argument is to NEVER click a popup ad or a large, obnoxious banner ad. On sites that I like (like hardocp.com), if they have a newegg banner for a good deal, I'll click it and look at it. Newegg knows I buy from them (cookies), and they see these types of things and send money to people who deserve it. But I never click popups or any ads on weather.com for example, because they make enough money as it is - if you've ever watch the chan they have more commercials than weather by at least 2x! (I don't get popups since I use the google toolbar, but flash things still show). |

I don't get popups since I use the google toolbar, but flash things still show. They've gotta make something for IE like Mozilla's ad-blocking plugin. I'd have its babies if it was possible, if only for making sites like 411mania.com readable. |

They must KNOW that I'm a man, as 95% of the spam I receive these days refers to cheap Viagra. (Of course, those are either placebo pills or pills with stuff in it that we shouldn't be taking. I'd guess the former at those prices. ) I heard that IE 6.05 (Windows Longhorn) has a pop-up stopping feature. |

The more annoying an ad, the less likely I am to click, and I'm not all that likely to do it to begin with. Any popups are instantly added to my shitlist. I'll click (and instantly close) banners on good sites if they're not too obnoxious, that's about it. | |||
