I've slept about 8 hours in the past three days.. I've always had trouble getting to sleep, but iot is getting worse and worse, and I don't know what to do. I am always tired, yet I cannot fall asleep at night ever. I've never had so many problems with sleep deprivation, and it is seriously starting to affect how I think.. Anybody know how to elimanate/ help lessen its effects of Insomnia? OR is there nothing I can do?

Any help would be appreiciated.

Well, I have minor insomnia, but Ive learned to function on 5-6 hours of sleep.

You could try and get some medication as a last resort...

Edit: Scratch that.... Hey, it usually works for me.

Do NOT exersise before bed. It will keep you awake, even if you're really tired from it.

Don't
-drink any kind of soda before or close to when you want to go to sleep
-drink anything else for that matter
-eat
-exersise
-be on your computer
-watch tv

First clear your mind, if you're thinking about too many things it will keep you awake. Second, start relaxing your body, start with your toes, and work your way up to your eye lids and ears. Make sure you're completely forcing yourself to relax. Then you might be able to fall asleep easier.

Also, is there anything that could be causing this? Stress, or something?

I haven't really experienced this problem to a stiff degree, but it's still no picnic.

If this persists, however, I would strongly advise going to see a doctor.

Yeah, I've been really stressed out. MY Bar-mitzvah's in 10 days, and thats been a ton of work, i've been getting in trouble for my grades, which are mostly B's (I'm in a smart-student group in school, so my mom thinks I should do better) I've been spending about an hour of the day for hebrew, and hour or two for homework, going on the computer, then starting at the celing for a few hours. I will try reading, listening to music, and I just can't fall asleep... Until about 3:00 in the morning. I'm exceptionally tired at school, causing me to be stressed out once I get home, mostly because of the work I didn't do in school that I will have to do at home, making me unable to sleep. This makes me irritable, and I'm getting angry at my friends for no good reason. I've been terrible to one in paticular, because he just won't stop talking. However, it is really just me being stupid because I can't think anymore.

I will not take medication. Sleep pills scare the heck out of me and will just stress me out more. I just trying to survive until summer, when School and my bar-mitzvah will be done. (I am looking foward to my bar-mitzvah, so it isn't really the problem. School is.)

I'm sorry if I didn't make too much sense there.. Ugh, I'm going to stop typing before I write a whole nother paragraph..

If you don't like sleeping pills and you want to sleep a good 8-9 hours, take some nyquil and I'll bet you'll be asleep in about 10 minutes. Just don't get addicted :p. I don't think its narcotic though.

Well, I slept for about 5 and a half hours last night, which was better than usual. I could have slept for another hour, but I forgot to re-set my alarm clock to 6:30 am, and had it set for 5:30. (I get up early on Wednesdays, so that was why it had been set up for five thirty...) That increases my total hours of sleep since monday to about 14... Unfortunatly, I'm realy starting to feel the effects of sleep deprivation today... I had a headache all today, and couldn't concentrate on anything for a long time. My headache was at its worst during the middle of the day, while I had an english test. I don't think I did very well. I completely lost it in the math test, forgetting most of the forumlas I needed to know. I hope I managed a B- out of the test.. I dunno how much longer this will last, but I can't take much more.

I'm telling ya man, the NyQuil will be your salvation. It's what $5 for 10 or so doses?

Sometimes if you're overstressed you can't sleep because you're worried you will sleep too long and not get done the things you have to do. That's my problem anyways. Just let go for a bit...

The only time I can never sleep is the eve before my birthday, and before Christmas.

Even if I know everything I got, I'll still stay up till 3, unable to sleep. (this leads to mondo postage)

That is true for me, heck I just ate a pizza and I feel pretty sleepy.

I have insomnia sort of, but it is getting better. Usually there is something I do to make me sleep better.

Yeah, I know what you mean as far as holidays go. Think of that same feeling of restlessness, only you have nothing to look foward to the next morning. That's pretty much what it is like... Well, i'm glad you aren't affected by any sleep problems..

I do have a semi plan on what to do.

The nights leading up to those dates, I do as much working out as I can, I stay up late, and get up early.

Also, when I'm laying in bed, I close my eyes and look at one corner of them, like the bottom left. Then I shift to bottom right.
Repeat until your eyes are mad tired and ready for some sleep.

I can't work out much, my legs are painfull to walk on, though sometimes it stops for a day or two. I always stay up late and wake up early due to the insomnia... I just have trouble allowing myself to fal asleep, i'll be really restless, and then when I get close, I'll just open my eyes and stop myself. I can't explain why, it just is something i'll do and be unsure why after... I'm getting in trouble at home for being irritable, and it just keeps getting worse. I have to bottle up frusteration, and pretend nothing is wrong, or i'll end up getting into trouble... I'll tell my parents that I can't fall asleep, and they just tell me "Read for a little, drink some water, and relax." I'm not getting any better, and my headache is getting worse, and I'm having a harder time concentrating on anything for a long time.. It hurts to stay awake, yet when I try to fall asleep, I feel the need to move around.. Ugh, I don't know what to do, I'm going to start screaing at people if I don't find some way to stop this frusteration that keeps building... But I've not nowhere to express my feelings, nothing to do to help... The only thing that distracts me from everyth8ing is playing some music, either on drum set or keyboard, and afterward that causes my headache to get worse....

I'd like to thank everyone that has tried to help me out, I appreicate it a lot, even if it doesn't sound that way.
